"Not a true New York one, although I've had pizza that claims to be New York style." Loki grinned while speaking. "I will say, the variety of food on Midgard is amazing." It meant he had to move one of his hands, but his cell phone was manifesting in his hand a moment later. Passing her the phone. "As part of my 'official' business, I have expense accounts too." With a wink.
"I'll be sure to change it then before our next visit. And go with something equally as whimsical, in your honor." With another kiss to her hair. "You order, I'll pay."
Taking the phone back to complete the order, he rattled off payment info, and confirmed this was the number to call on arrival. That finished, the phone was placed on the table nearby so he could wrap his arms around her again. "Now, would you like to know more about what I've found in the book you gave me?"
"I've started transcribing it, as well as taking notes. I'll translate it later. It's title translates roughly to 'Visions seen in Ymir's Well.' Are you familiar with Ymir?"
"To our knowledge, Ymir had no 'well' associated with him. So it might be a mistranslation of Mimir, but given the rest of what I've seen so far I can't tell for certain. Ymir though, is said to be the progenitor of the Jotunn, but also potentially of the Aesir--the Asgardians, and possibly all beings in our creation myths."
Pausing, before switching subjects. "I should probably also tell you about the importance of Wells, of which Mimir's well is one of the most important ones." If the book was confusing Ymir with Mimir, it was still valuable.
"There are three wells at the base of Yggsdrasil. Urðarbrunnr, is known as Urd's well, and where the Norns weave fate and creation from. Hvergelmir, which is said to be located beneath Niflheim and the source of all springs It is also where the beast Nidhoggr that eats at Yggsdrasil's roots lives. And MĂmisbrunnr, in which the head of Mimir dwells. Where Odin traded an eye for wisdom, as his well is the source of all wisdom."
"I'm really fond of binocular vision, but would be adaptable to life with one kidney." She is surprisingly actually willing to trade body parts for wisdom.
"I'd rather you stay whole, personally." There was that protective streak.
"In any case, the book seems to be written in prose and rhyme. But so far, it seems to be about the history of the Nine Realms, and their formation from the Ginnungagap."
"I believe so. It's a matter of figuring out what might be worth following up on. It's remarkably well-preserved, which is likely due to magic." Nuzzling her hair. "There may also be spells in it, but I haven't been able to verify that yet. I read quickly, but have been rather preoccupied with other things. If nothing else, it is valuable as a piece of history that predates Asgard--and there are precious few things of Asgard left."
"After dinner then, when we're winding down for the evening." Still smiling, and moving to kiss her ear. "Sometime, you might even be able to get me to sing for you."
An eyebrow rose, with a sly grin. "You'll just have to find out in the future." With a soft chuckle. "Next time you're in New Asgard, we should stick around for more of the drinking and story-sharing after dinner."
"You made quite a few friends, while you were there." Ingrid and her healers had nothing but praise for Christine. Osmund also had enjoyed training with her and hoped she was well. "You're most definitely welcome again. Thor thinks you're a 'calming' influence on me. But that's only because he doesn't know some of what I've been up to."
