"It was years ago though, and I've seen quite a bit since then." 4 years, that he'd hidden as Odin, 1 year in prison after that disastrous invasion. Then however many months on Sakaar.

"Has that time changed you?" Seems a natural question to ask, even if she thinks it must have.

If he's even willing to entertain a human as a friend.

"I'm sure you can ask a better question than that, especially not one you know the answer to." That eyebrow was arching again, challenge in his tone.

"Does your hair need conditioner? Or does it just stay nice on its own?"

Fine, an unexpected question for you, Loki.

That made him laugh, head tilting down with it and genuinely amused. "No, I take care of it as much as I'm able to, when I'm able to." With a twinkle in his eyes as he looked at her. "I'm glad you seemed to like it."

[drpalmer]

"It's very soft and honestly; I'm a little jealous."

She laughs herself, the subject is much lighter and the tension feels broken.

"Don't be." Said with a little laugh. "Your own was quite enjoyable to caress too." And a rare genuine smile.

That gets a little blush to color her cheeks, helped along by the space wine.

"Can you bring me wine more often?"

[whose_son_am_i]

"To bring it too often might cheapen the experience of having it, Christine." Loki teased. "But I am glad you like it." Then chuckled to himself. "Don't think this gets you out of replacing it in future. I won't expect this vintage, but I will still expect the good stuff."

[drpalmer]

"I'm willing to take that risk." She teases right back.

"I'm too old for cheap wine myself, so ,I promise to keep good wines on hand."

"Do you branch out from wine as well?" Still with that hint of genuine smile. She made for good dinner company. Or just good company in general, and he was trying to do the same. "...for what it's worth, Thor was also dating a Doctor. A scientist--Jane Foster."

[drpalmer]

"Sometimes. A mixed drink on occasion, sometimes a scotch."

The scotch tends to be reserved for very rough days.

"Ah only the finest human minds to hold the attentions of Asgardians."

"So next time, I need to bring mead clearly. Whether from Midgard or elsewhere." Loki said with a wry grin. "And depends on the Asgardian I'd say."

"Mead is the honey one?"

It's not an especially popular drink in New York.

"Well, you wouldn't keep the company of anyone dumb. At least not for long."

[whose_son_am_i]

"I most certainly wouldn't. I'd be bored quickly and nobody wants that." With a wicked grin. "Mead is the honey one yes, but if you don't believe we have our own dullards in Asgard or among the Vanir as well, you're sorely mistaken."

"I'm sure you do." She's heard that Thor is more of the traditional, muscular but maybe not as clever man.

"I endeavor not to bore you."

"And so far, you succeed. Or I wouldn't respond or simply not show up." With a tilt of his head in acknowledgement. "Mead and Wine are traditional on Asgard though, which is why I asked. While I'm certain I COULD find a good alcohol or two on Midgard, I'd be playing it far more loosely than usual."

[drpalmer]

"Funny that multiple worlds still decided to ferment their fruit."

In early human history it was safer than the water.

"Not entirely surprising though." Leaning forward, there was mischief in his smile and he moved a hand to beckon her closer too. "People often think Chaos is entirely random."

[drpalmer]

She leans forward, though a bit wary.

"Chaos is just very difficult to control, it's not hard to start."

[whose_son_am_i]

"The key I'd say is not to control it so much as direct it. But that was not my point." Loki replied, still smiling. "But there is no such thing as pure chaos. There likely isn't a thing as pure order too, when one gets down to it. Think of it as if you're splattering paint onto a canvas. If you do so purely randomly, you'll still get pockets of organization where the drops all align and converge. And if one tries to do so randomly on purpose, there is still that hint of direction and order."

"That's a very apt description actually." There is always a little order in chaos and chaos in order.

"I thought you'd understand." Satisfied, Loki leaned back and finished his wine. It wasn't necessarily a hard concept, but so many people made it far more complicated than it had to be. "This is why you don't 'control' chaos. You direct it, and adapt to flow with it."

[drpalmer]

"Just nudging the current."

She finishes her own wine and watches him, she seems eager to just look at him, to study his features.

He gave her a nod of approval, then did his best to politely ignore that he was being studied in turn. Mostly by assessing how much of the wine was left, along with the cheeses and honningkage. A few moments of quiet thought to himself as well before he broke it. Meeting her gaze directly. "This has been far more pleasant than I anticipated."
