"Looking for any and all loopholes." He confirmed. "Our position is tenuous in some ways. As I said, we're lucky to have not been regarded as an invading force." Lazily, he strokes along her spine. "There are those who would like us to find somewhere else to settle, whether it be in the nation or not. There are some who feel its blasphemy to suggest such a thing, still believing we're Gods. There are those who are happy for our presence here. It's all a lovely tangle."
"A spaceship of refugee gods does seem politically complicated." There are likely some people who are absolutely thrilled to have the children of Odin living in Norway.
"This is quite a small village, I can understand why locals would be concerned." It's the same all over, mass immigration causes worry about supplies and jobs.
"Exactly so." He nodded. "We came here for personal reasons, for Thor and myself. But also because it would be familiar." Aside from the mess of worry about supplies and jobs, the village itself had been fairly welcoming. They had living history and mythology coming to stay. "It's not simply the locals though, unless you mean the whole of Norway as 'local'. Further, there are nations in the world who are intensely curious as well, and ascribing any number of motives or meanings to our presence here." His tone turned dry. "We are, for better or worse, the first extra terrestrial entities to have made contact with Earth some years ago, and now we've brought a bunch of us to live here. While we lack most all of the Einherjar or other warriors, that doesn't mean there aren't those among us who know how to fight or are unwilling to. Considering our differences from humans..."
It was, in short, a huge mess; Norway was just a microcosm of it.
"I know Thor has been in contact with what's left of that American organization and its one-eyed director. I've also had to coach him, repeatedly, on certain matters. If only because while he has grown less impulsive over the years, he is still far more warrior than not."
"You did bring us a full spaceship full of aliens. And with how humans are I'm sure some nations are questioning how to best exploit your presence."
It's very good that Loki isn't the public face of their group though, the public likes Thor, he's an Avenger. Loki doesn't have the best reputation on Earth.
"Your brother seems nice, as big as I imagined. But I wouldn't be surprised to find he lacks subtlety."
"I am pleased to say he's been learning." Loki said dryly. "He's not dumb though, despite how headstrong he can be. He's a qualified tactician in some ways, and he has accepted help from those who have other skills. Like myself, and Heimdall. Brunhilde, the Valkyrie, is also on his council." Moving to softly nuzzle her hair. "You'll see them and meet her at dinner though. I'm not usually known for going, but it's expected of me since I have a guest."
"Not really, no. Nor men, either." Loki had often gone to his lovers, rather than the other way around. "Or I sought companionship among those who had their own reasons to come to the palace."
It would be weird if she were bothered. Hmming softly to himself, in thought for a moment. "Isn't there some American song about the times changing? Seems appropriate for the circumstances." He'd heard it while undercover, and it had seemed rather poignant and pointed.
"I'll have to find it again then." Said, along with a deep breath in and out, just enjoying being curled around her. "Any questions you have that I can answer before this dinner?"
"Would you rather be rude on purpose? I can certainly coach you in that. Make it quite an exciting dinner." Loki chuckled, smirking against her forehead. "Were I sentimental and soft, I'd say simply 'be yourself' because that's already pretty wonderful."
"Oh I can wield it like a weapon if needed." But he'd also agreed not to manipulate her--hopefully she remembered that, because he certainly did. "You do make it quite enjoyable for me to play the role of gallant lover though."
"But God of Mischief is one I've played far longer than gallant lover." In some ways, he was the ultimate actor. But he did enjoy a good bit of theater now and again. "Your city is supposed to be famous for its plays--perhaps the next time I'm in town we should go see one."
"Would that be so bad?" Eric was one of a few identities Loki had that weren't 'him'. It's likely he'd who the phone would be registered to. "We could also do dinner again."
"And my natural hair, from what you've said." There's amusement in those blue-green eyes. "It will be a date then." Pressing another kiss to her forehead. "We'll have to get up soon." Lips curving into a mischievous grin against her skin. "Although I am curious, what it is you most wanted to do to me."
Brushing his mind against hers, wrapping around her own softly. I know what I'd like to do to you... And then there is a targeted projection--not an illusion, but pure sensation and emotion. Heat and want and lust and desire and pleasure. Formed from the feel of her shattering around him, the sound of his name on her lips in worship. Formed entirely of emotion.
Loki was testing a theory... If her Empathy was truly what was strongest, then this should get a strong reaction.
That was a delightful reaction indeed, and he's quite pleased with himself. Stroking her hair, arm around her pulling her closer, Loki made a soft soothing noise. Echoed with the feel of him wrapping around her mind, but more gently this time. This was comfort, catching her, holding her after a moment of vulnerability.
"When you talk to your Sorcerer, you should tell him that your abilities seem tied to your Empathy."
"Yes you do. But knowing just what you're vulnerable to will help you build those shields. You need to focus not simply on stray thoughts, but on emotions. Build your shields with emotions, so that they aren't a point of weakness."
He didn't bother to point out that he had a key through the very shield he'd put up.
"Jeg liker å få deg til å knuse." Murmured against her hair, softly. Affectionately. "Du er min for å beskytte"

He's quite affectionate right now, Christine traces little circles along his side before sliding her hand to his back.
"Don't you bring women home often?" She teases.

She is unbothered by the comment about men. He's a thousand year old alien, the least weird thing about him is an open sexuality.

His humming is a very pleasant noise, low and resonant against her.

It's a comfortable bit of cuddling, just an easy conversion while curled up together.

She remembers, which is why she finds it so endearing when he is especially sweet with her.

She can hear herself gasping his name and she's not sure if she's said it out loud, mentally or both.
If he was looking for a reaction the way she shudders and trembles in his arms should be a strong one.

"That's cheating." She makes a note of what to mention to Stephen. "I very much need to work on my shielding if I can be given surprise orgasms."
