The same maid who'm she'd surprised is the one who attends to anything she needs, such as dinner. It kept getting late, and where was no sign of Loki. Except for a text message around 10ish, with "I'm okay, just being thorough."

It wouldn't be until around 1ish or 2ish, when he finally made it back to his rooms. Dressed casually--in the only pair of jeans he owned, and tee shirt, and a hoodie and None of it in his own colors. Still illusioned, in fact--with short blond hair and lighter-eyes than his own. He looked bruised and battered though.

She eats lightly and on her own. The text is reassuring, but she is still awake when he gets back.

If she didn't know the feel of his magic, she probably wouldn't have recognized him, especially in jeans.

"Are you okay?" She's quickly moving to him to check.

"I look worse on purpose." Loki gave her a small smile, and let the illusion fall. He looked fine, if a bit different in the clothes. "I'm tired, but also thankful I'm not human right now. With no offense intended, Sweetling."

She nods, reaching to touch that familar face.

"No offense taken, we are rather squishy as a species."

She sees how true that is every time a bad car accident comes in.

His hand comes up over hers, taking comfort in her touch and presence. "We'll know within the week if I was truly successful, but I believe I've neutralized the worst." Then more softly, just for her. "I can't guarantee from this point that there will be no casualties, but I didn't kill anyone."

"Thank you." She brushes her thumb along his cheekbone.

"I'm proud of you." She knows he can be a bit bloodthirsty himself.

It would also have been too likely to be suspicious if anyone had died so obviously so quickly. But he had still held back, for her. "You are alright? Aside from my being late?"

She nods. "I'm fine. Sif and I did well I think. She was very surprised by how agreeable everyone was."

She stands taller to leave a little kiss on his lips.

"Jeans are weird on you. Wait. Turn around, do they make your butt look good?"

That brought laughter, and another kiss. Quick but sweet, before he's moving more into his rooms. "I'll leave that to you to judge, Sweetling. I need a shower at the very least. And wine, if there's any left." Already heading towards the bedroom and bathroom.

She will absolutely be checking out the view as he walks away. The jeans don't do anything special.

She will have a glass of wine waiting for him when he gets out of the shower.

They truly don't, and he is glad to get out of them. The shower is quick, and he's only wearing a towel---they are his rooms after all. "Bless you, Sweetling." He says gratefully, taking the glass with one hand and reaching to wrap an arm around her waist with the other. Pulling her close and honestly glad to be back in her presence.

She loves when he walks around in a towel, it's insanely hot.

She presses against his side with a content noise. Then she sees what looks to be a bruise forming on his stomach.

"Did you take some punches?"

A blink, and he looks down. "...I must've. I didn't think they hit that hard, honestly." Loki wasn't sure whether he was impressed or annoyed. "I did play patsy a few times, and left a few illusions of things looking worse. Now it's just waiting for things to implode." Much as he didn't want to, he's pulling away and turning around slowly to let her see if there are anymore.

"Christine..." Loki started to say, feeling her magic come into play. "...You really don't have to do that, you know?" Softly, but appreciatively. Appreciating her, and pulling her close once more. "Thank you Sweetling."

"I know." She kisses his shoulder.

"You'd heal in a few days, I'm just speeding it up." Both because she can and because she doesn't like seeing him hurt.

"You're welcome. I'm happy to practice my healing."

"I hope not to give you more need to practice it." Nuzzling her forehead and kissing her hair. "Now tell me how your own assignment went. I imagine Sif expected more trouble than you both had, yes?" Leading her towards the bed.

"I think she did. She warned me to be ready to step back and to keep a distance."

But Christine's suggestions had kept everyone very agreeable.

She slips out of her trousers before sliding into bed.

Even if all they do is sleep, it's likely she'll be slipping out of more clothing than just her trousers. At least, if Loki has any choice in the matter. "No doubt a few of them expected Sif to be ready to lead a charge against those who would try and oppress us, I can imagine. Or wondered why our king hasn't?"

Finishing the wine and placing the glass nearby, he reaches for her. Folding her closer and wrapping his arms around her. "It is fortunate, as sad as it is, that our remaining people are not soldiers."

"A few did seem very eager for a fight." It is fairly likely that the rest of her clothes will be tossed aside as well. They have a habit of being entitely unable to not be skin to skin.

"That would have been seen as more of an invasion." She wraps herself up in his embrace.
