But she does pull up her shields, focusing specifically on the energy that is his. She shuts that energy out and it feels awful. It's an overwhelming sense of loneliness that she's never felt before and when she looks at him it's obvious she hates the feeling.
One hand moved to tilt her head up, stroking her cheek softly. "It....feels familiar." In a pensive tone, as Loki tried to figure out how to explain. "It reminds me of how I felt, all at once, for most of my life."
If it were possible, she was folded even closer. The hand stroking her cheek moved to pull her to where she could hide against his neck and shoulder. "You get used to it, I'm afraid. And learn to stop caring about it, if it's with you long enough." But Loki was just as glad that he no longer had to--and he hoped Christine would never have to get used to it.
"Shh, Sweetling." Murmured against her hair, along with a soft kiss. "I haven't felt that way since we discovered it. And since our time in Urðarbrunnr it has only felt more right." Loki had been good at ignoring that he felt better with it. He'd questioned it many times, why it should feel so natural and why it was a good thing. Because he could find all the ways it would be used as a weakness.
But their time at the Well had changed all of them...
Loki does not realize that he's projecting. He was trying to do so with words and actions, not simply via his emotions. "Fate is a tricky tricky thing, my Christine. Only the Norns truly know its weavings and workings." But while he, Thor, and Christine had all been sent to the Norns, those beings had kept him and Christine working together.
So perhaps she was fated to be his, and he fated to be hers. Considering some of the worst he'd been through, and knew the fates to be capable of... Loki was glad of this outcome.
"And ruin what you called magnificent?" Loki looked properly horrified, but his eyes were twinkling. "I don't think so." Then he's kissing her forehead and nuzzling her. "There are better things than a name to tattoo, if you want to go that route Sweetling."
"I don't think I've ever considered. And not because I think of it as tainting, either." Loki murmured, absently stroking her hair and neck. "It's more due to the shape-shifting, probably. When I want to look a different way, I just do."
"Are you thinking of getting one, Sweetling?" Shapeshifting was and was not difficult for Loki. It seemed to be one of his 'innate' gifts, so perhaps it was related to his being a frost giant. Or maybe it was unique to him for other reasons.
"I think you're beautiful as you are. You know that, yes?" Loki asked, stroking her hair back from her face and his thumb rubbing her cheek. "And as much as it is amusing to my ego that you'd get my name tattooed, I don't think you really need to or want to." You're already mine in so many other ways, after all."
Loki rolled his eyes but was smiling. "I thought you were interested in learning runes, and instead you're clearly feeling horn-y." With a playful wink, at the deliberately cheesy joke.
Her reaction just makes him chuckle. "Aren't you glad I usually make much better jokes?" Loki confirmed, leaning up to kiss her forehead. "I promise, I won't make anymore intentionally bad ones."
She is welcome to all of the blanket, and Loki will just wrap himself around her too. And add another log to the fire with his own telekinesis. "You have been through a lot lately. Today wasn't as exciting in many respects, but it's given you a chance to rest."

She's still kissing him however.

"Does it feel terrible for you too?"

It feels familar, but it no longer feels like something she wants.
In an instant she specifically opens her shields to him, inviting back the comfort of knowing he's close and okay.
She actually sighs in relief.

"And I don't want you to have to either."
Life just feels better with the bond, richer in all the best ways.

"It does feel right. And I've never been one to believe in fate, but you feel like fate."

She shifts a bit to use telekinesis to move some wood into the fire pit and another spell to light it. Magic could be ridiculously convenient.
"Would you get my name tattooed on your ass?" It's a light little joke.

"What would you tattoo then?"

"What about on you? Or would you not taint that skin of yours?"

Shapeshifting is one thing she doesn't believe she could ever learn, it's only barely mentioned in the books at the Sanctum.

Christine didn't want to get something she could regret later.

She leans into each little touch, just happy and content to have this quiet place together.
"Maybe the horns." She teases.

"If I was, I'm not now." Who knew he would make a dirty dad joke.

They've not gotten much time to themselves lately, so this is a luxury.
