Christine is surprised by how gentle the kiss is. They're investigating one another and they're both methodical about it. She brushes her fingers through his hair.
They are investigating one another, testing out this new development so to speak. Loki guarded what heart he did have very very jealously. She's already managed to worm her way in to where he enjoyed her company, held some sentimental affection for her.
Being lovers would complicate things though. But when did he let that stop him? Complicated and 'trouble' just often made him more determined.
"I'm insulted. You sound surprised by that." But Loki was smiling anyways, and still cupping the back of her hair and nape. Arm still around her waist too. "That was very pleasant though."
"Perhaps this time he'll try to warn me instead of you." Loki sounded amused by the very idea. "As nice as this is though, we still have delicious treats to indulge in. Though you might also get me to dance again too, afterwards."
Gently pulling back, hand moving to find one of hers and bringing it briefly up for a kiss, before preparing to lead her back to the table.
"It is rather potent for a human..." Holding her chair out for her. "Rest assured, were I to take you to bed, I'd still prefer you to be good conversation and clever. Being too inebriated for that would not be attractive to me."
"Only physically, would you be considered 'weak' or 'frail'." Whether she'd catch implied meanings and compliments in that statement he didn't know. But that was the point.
"If you're going to lie, learn to do it better." With an amused grin sent her way.
"Well, in a way, you aren't lying. Eventually, they will be 'okay'...just not in the way they think you're saying." Here was part of why Loki was a liar, and a good one. He could twist words around.
"Now you should eat more before you have more wine."
"I'm not entirely sure of their current status. I recall vaguely hearing something about him being left by her." Loki can't hide the amusement he feels at that, or the smugness.
Loki had certainly never considered dating a human before. Although he supposed they should clarify what 'dating' meant. Or being 'friends'--he wasn't used to that. It wasn't he hadn't had relationships with them before, but they were very rare, brief, and non-committal.

Yeah, kissing him was a good idea.

The kiss lasts a while, but she eventually pulls away to catch her breath.
"I'll give you credit for being a very good kisser."

"Very pleasant. No doubt worthy of a warning by a sorcerer."

She nods, she doesn't want to push this too far, too fast.
"I may need to go a little slower on the wine."

"Good to know? Maybe I wouldn't want to take you to bed at all."
She's not a liesmith, so that's very obviously not true.

"I've never been a good liar." She pouts. "The only time I can manage it is when I'm reassuring someone they will be okay when I know they won't."
Those are the hardest lies, but people in crisis do much worse when faced with the truth.

And she does give her all for each and every one of them.
She nods and has a bit more cake.

Glad to see her getting more food, he lets the silence linger companionably again. Working on his own cake and cheese and wine.

She knows he's very old, and she wonders if he's even kept track.

She can't help but to fall into flirtatious teasing again.

It's not said in anything but a jesting manner. She genuinely does enjoy his company.
She's had more food so she pours herself another glass of wine.

Part of that silvertongue must be winning people over with charm.
