"Only that you have ones I have not read." He replied smoothly, still with that sharp edge to his smile. And a hint of laughter. "You're too sentimental to want me to take you to bed. You'd want it to mean something other than just a good time."
Nor is he, which is part of how some of those 'myths' had happened.
"But think of the scandal it would cause in the community." This is not a deterrent to him, and blue-green eyes were glittering again with mischief. "But to write a proper paper, you'd have to repeat the experiment multiple times to gain proper data."
"I promise to not get too adventurous, if that's your concern." Although his hand went to his side, to the hole in his green shirt over where he'd been wounded. Checking with careful fingers to see how tender or not the area was still.
Still with that lazy grin. "We will have to move some of your furniture if we're going to be doing this. Be glad you have a huge New York apartment." She really shouldn't encourage him in any way...
"Can you magic my furniture out of the way, it's heavy."
Surgeons tend to have some need for adrenaline and Christine is no different. She needs to maintain some excitement in her life, be it holding beating hearts or fighting an actual god.
An eyebrow raised. "I doubt that, but yes. I can." A pause while he raised the wine-glass up, preparing to finish it. "Go drink your juice." Again with that nudging sensation; although it was a good idea.
"I might let you believe that." Loki called with a mocking laugh. Finishing his own glass of wine, before leaving the empty glass on the arm chair. Up on his feet, and gauging the space. Before moving the couch away and from them, out of their way, with a pushing gesture from his hands. No hints of visible magic. The same was repeated for any other furniture until they had a nice open space.
Haha, that's all the poking he was going to be doing today. It's neat to watch her furnature slide out of the way with such ease. Magic looks really convenient.
"Good. You're supposed to." Loki said, a hint of approval in his tone. "So what do you know?" How far back to basics was he going to have to go? The irony was not lost, that he--who was definitely not a warrior--would be teaching her basic defensive combat. It amused him.
"Too obvious a target usually." Loki commented. "Let's see how you do."
He wasn't nice. But Loki did warn her at times. Practicing a move with her until she performed it flawlessly. Sticking to basics, but being sure to teach her the dirty-tricks too. She wasn't any danger to him, and was more likely a danger to herself performing something wrong. So he struck hard enough she'd feel it but not hurt, and only cushioned her fall when taking her down to the ground enough to not hurt her. None of this was about hurting one's partner. He paid close attention for when she did seem hurt, and adapted his force accordingly.
Humans were so fragile.
Breaks as needed, for food or to catch one's breath. But otherwise he lost count of how many times they'd ended up in a tangle of arms and legs. Or gone to the ground, attempting to pin one another. It probably wasn't a good idea, but it did help relieve some of the tension from her revelation. Gave his mind something to focus on while working on the puzzle that was her. Loki was also attributing any other tension that he noticed, to the fact that he was technically still injured.
By the time they were done, both were a sweaty mess and in need of a shower and change of clothes. Which might prove a problem for him.
It was hard work, tiring. But Christine kept herself in good shape so she was able to catch up.
He had definitely ended up on top of her several times, which was distracting in it's own way. He was a better teacher than she would have expected, making sure she did moves well and safely.
She's still flopped on the floor when they've finished, her top clinging to her sweaty body.

There's a smirk, she makes her way back to the living room and over to him.
"Are you jealous of my books?"

She's just going to tease around the idea. They very much should not sleep together, for just a night or otherwise.
no subject
"I could certainly repay your healing in that way more easily than taking you out for a nice dinner, if you'd prefer." With a little mocking bow.
no subject
Sometimes you just prefer a dessert. And to annoy the god in your living room.

"So clearly it's time to experiment. Order cheesecake, and we'll test that theory." Challenge accepted, Dr. Palmer.
no subject
She's not one to back down from a challenge, despite the likelihood of it backfiring tremendously.

There is a hint of something under her amusement, like she might actually be curious about what it would be like to have him.
"But you're injured, I wouldn't want to pop your stitches."
no subject
No, he was fairly confident he'd be fine.
no subject
"As your doctor, I do think you still need rest."
no subject
"Besides, if we're going to get physical, I'd rather start teaching you defense."
no subject
As if she could take him in a fight. It's still way more entertaining to act as if she could.

She really, really shouldn't encourage Loki to come at her with a dagger.

She grabs the glass and takes a sip, moving to the kitchen to leave the glass out of the way.

She's had to use that once, it was very effective. She crosses back into the livingroom.

"I'm better at reading it."
"Makes sense, given your job." "What else would you like to do?"
"with you or in general?"
"Both. "I'm open to most anything."
"that could be a very dangerous offering."
