"You did her a kindness..." Stephen repeated, almost like he didn't believe it. The myths DID say Loki could be helpful. When he wanted. But now Stephen had to worry why he wanted to be helpful. Back to Thor. "And you'll keep him in line?"
"Excuse me." Loki protested. "I do not need to be kept in line."
Thor did reach up now and rub his forehead. "I will take responsibility for him. And she is under my protection as well." He gave Stephen a look. "If you would be so kind, Sorcerer, as to send us home?"
"That's right. You came via the Tesseract. That really needs to be somewhere safer."
"Like with you?" Loki said, scoffing softly. Thor also bristled slightly "That is a matter to be discussed privately."
"This isn't private enough for you?" Stephen said.
"No. And when I make a decision, you will be informed." Thor said, a hint of imperiousness to his tone. A sort of casual arrogance as well.
"Oh I think I should be part of that decision. I'm not one of your citizens to be ordered, your majesty." Stephen replied, narrowing his eyes.
Loki rolled his eyes, but caught Christine's on the tail end of it. Want to travel, Sweetling?
Wonderful. Hold on. Loki wasn't going to wait for permission. He also wouldn't beg forgiveness later; he didn't beg at all.
Instead he manifested the tesseract again, making sure he had a good hold on her. Before activating it--right as Thor and Stephen noticed he'd pulled it out again. Protests were on both of their mouths, but cut off.
It's a shift and tug of magic, before they're halfway across the world. In a field with a view of the ocean, and about a 30 minute walk from New Asgard.
"That is much better." Loki all but sighed in relief, vanishing the tesseract once more and wrapping his other arm around her.
"I'm impressed you were able to reach me. I thought I'd severed any tie to myself from the shield." Bowing his head, mouth against her hair. "You're stronger than I thought." A pause. "Or possibly more attuned to Empathy, given that strong emotions have played a significant role with your ability."
One hand reaches up to hold her's where she's holding his cheek. "The sad truth is, I am not sure just when or how often I'll be able to visit, Sweetling." Pressing a kiss to her forehead. "As you might've guessed, I'm not exactly welcome here, and it was better to keep my presence a secret. Thor has taken on enough trouble with others here already."
"I've been reluctant to let others know I have the Tesseract for very good reason. Which has meant 'not using it'." He said reasonably. The fact that he'd pulled it out immediately with her call was somewhat disconcerting to him...
"I've been influencing people, or using the Commodore, to travel." Neither of which were as convenient as the Tesseract or Stephen's method. "Whether your Sorcerer chooses to keep my presence a secret or not, I can't say. But I'm certain he'll monitor me. Or try to."
"Different sort of magic." Loki responded. But he might have to look into if there was an equivalent. Especially since he doubted the sorcerer would teach him.
"I'll try to send word more often." Said softly, with another kiss to her forehead. Before pulling away enough to look at her. "Are you alright?"
Well now she's debating if she should visit the sanctum to try to learn to make a door herself.
"You mean at all?" But the way she touches him says that she can't stay mad for more than a moment. "I'm ok. Knicked my shirt with the equipment it threw."
There's a small tear in her sleeve and a faint scratch on her skin, but all very minor considering what she was up against.
"At all. Yes." With an actual apologetic and soft smile. Bringing their joined hands over to kiss her palm.
"We probably don't have long until Thor arrives. And we were in the midst of delicate negotiations." Tilting his head slightly, that smile remains. "Would you like to see New Asgard? Be settled for a while until I can join you once more?"
It's not allowed to be a light kiss. There's very much enjoyment at her touch in his kiss back. Clear pleasure in her presence, hints of heat and relief mingled.
"Walk with me." He says, taking her arm like he had before. The village was old--the oldest in Norway. It was clear there was a new sudden influx of people, as they got closer. There was also a giant ark-sized spaceship parked near the coastline.
"I'm rather glad the Norwegian government hasn't seen our arrival as an act of invasion. It truly is not, even though we seem to have taken over the town that was here." They're making a decent pace, and as they get into more populated areas--there is clear curiosity in the people. Some wariness, because it's Loki--and escorting a stranger?
She's also very clearly not dressed for the environment. The general mood is one of wary-friendliness between the native Norwegians and the Asgardians (and accompanying aliens). From conversation, she can guess that the big difference besides linguistical shifts between the two languages is accent. It's not long after they arrive in the town proper, before they're joined by another tall Asgardian. Golden armor gleaming, sword sheathed at his back, Heimdall falls into step beside them.
"I'm assuming you saw that?" Loki asks dryly. Heimdall offers a small smile. "Be glad more people didn't." The all-seeing and all-hearing God replied just as dryly. "My Lady, I hope you're prepared for your life to become far more interesting than it was." Addressed with a little bow towards Christine.
"And after we left?" Loki asked.
"I smoothed things over with the dignitaries. For now. They are concerned, as am I, that you have the Tesseract." Heimdall said, still as calmly voiced as before. "We do not have the means to properly keep it safe, Loki."
"I'm aware." It's said with a sigh. "It wouldn't be very diplomatic to alter their memories, would it?" More dry humor, and it got a soft laugh out of Heimdall. Before the other God turned his attention once more to Christine. "My apologies for seeming to ignore you, my Lady. But it was already a complex and delicate affair before the sudden exit of our King and his brother."
"The economy of the area will likely be boosted by all the new people." Especially if they are hardworking.
Once they get close she starts seeing the looks. Heads turn to get a glimpse of Loki.
They are joined by a giant of a man in gold. It only now dawns on her what a big decision it was to come with him. Besides Stephen knowing Loki is here, all of New Asgard seems to have come out to see them as well. It's a little intimidating.
"I seem to be a bit of a spectacle at the moment." As they are being watched by what seems to be the whole town.
"My appologies for that. I didn't expect quite as much drama as I got today." But if the god had seen everything, he would know her call for help was justified.
The Asgardians were like most people--some weren't as willing to work hard, but most were. Good and not so good, with different interests... A very long lived and not human people, who had been through a terrible ordeal and were trying to make their home anew. The staring and head turning was likely just as much as the fact that Loki was obviously escorting someone in a way that indicated familiarity, as it was because he was openly out and about. There was less wariness from the Asgardians--they knew he'd fought for them, essentially saved their lives--than from the natives. But none of the looks held hostility.
"What's one more stranger, added to a group of them?" Heimdall replied, amused by her good humor. "Loki obviously has you under his care. I would expect more drama to come." Loki made a soft scoffing noise of amusement, and shot the other a look, but there was no malice in it.
In truth, Heimdall hadn't been aware of her existence, or importance to the God of Mischief, either. Not until he and Thor had vanished. But he'd seen many things, and heard many things. "Welcome to New Asgard, my Lady. I am Heimdall, guardian of our borders and council to our King."
She has a drive to be stronger, so she needs a bit less protection. Especially if more threats are going to come her way. Which they might if it's thought that she is somehow important to Loki.
"The all-seeing Heimdall, it's truly a pleasure to meet you." She's heard of him, the guardian of the bridge.
She gives Loki's arm the tiniest squeeze, a little hint of affection just for him.
They will, especially if she's seen as somehow important to Loki. That was one of the tricky things about dealing in magic. Once the door was open, it was hard to shut--and once you became aware of other things, they could also become aware of you.
"You have me at a disadvantage." Heimdall said with a smile. "I know only two names for you, and one of them I am sure would earn me a knife in my back." That last said with an amused look at the God of Mischief. Heimdall hadn't missed the tiny gesture of affection either.
"Whether in the back or the front, he would be certain I won't see it coming. Which is no easy task." Heimdall replied with good humor. "Who has graced our new home with her presence?" Asking for a name, although he'd likely keep addressing her politely. But Thor would want explanations, and Heimdall planned to be there for them as well.
They'd continued walking, and were now on a meandering path towards the giant spaceship. Once Heimdall had joined them, there was both more curiosity, but more covertness about it. Christine was quite the buzz apparently.

She has the protection of someone who has had much longer to master shielding.
The whole tone in Loki's voice is such a contrast to how she remembers his sweet whispers before he left.

"Excuse me." Loki protested. "I do not need to be kept in line."

She doesn't enjoy not only being in the middle of this, but mostly being ignored.
Desperately finally she can feel him again, and it relaxes something inside of her.
Though going with him will mean being ignored while he has some elaborate discussion with his brother.

"You've been gone for two months. I'd practically given up on seeing you again."

And that is her fault.
"Those sound like excuses when you apparently have travel magic. You could show up in my livingroom and no one would see you."

"I've been influencing people, or using the Commodore, to travel." Neither of which were as convenient as the Tesseract or Stephen's method. "Whether your Sorcerer chooses to keep my presence a secret or not, I can't say. But I'm certain he'll monitor me. Or try to."
no subject
"Why don't you just make one of those circle door things?" Christine assumes that sort of magic is well within his capability.

"I'd like to see." She stand on her toes to press her lips to his, might as well steal a kiss while she's able to.
"Which way?" She finally looks around, it's a gorgeous little spot.

"Walk with me." He says, taking her arm like he had before. The village was old--the oldest in Norway. It was clear there was a new sudden influx of people, as they got closer. There was also a giant ark-sized spaceship parked near the coastline.

"The back is so cliché, Heimdall." Loki said, with a smile that was all teeth. He wasn't as fond of the idea that the other had seen so much. Including what he considered to be a private moment.

There was a flush to her cheeks at the idea of Heimdall knowing Loki's pet name for her, and that he had seen their little bits of affection.

"Christine Palmer." She doesn't have any fancy titles to add to it. She's very normal overall.
While people may be trying to be a bit more subtle, she can tell they are all still trying to get a glimpse of the excitement.
