She is lovely and Loki is more than happy to watch her. Or help her dress, if she wants. It's an excuse for soft affectionate touch and kisses and nuzzling. Nothing that would work them up, but just a general sharing of happiness in her presence.

She can get on at least most everything on her own, though she will stop, shirt still unbuttoned to steal a few little kisses.

She didn't need the help anymore than he did. But it was a good excuse to steal kisses and be sweet with each other. Which is what Loki wanted; even though he behaved for the most part.

When he finally did pull back, he offered her a soft smile. "Any questions about tonight?"

"Is there anything specific I need to do?"

All the sweet affection is welcomed and reciprocated.

"This may surprise you, but I've never been to a state dinner before."

"Be yourself?" Loki said with an eyebrow raise and grin. "We'll be dining with the King of Norway, as well as the Prime Minister. When we first enter, Thor will be standing by his chair and we'll walk to our seats, bow, and then we wait. That will be the formal presentation, as it were. Heimdall will be there, and follow us in much the same way, escorting the prime-minister. The same for the King of Norway. The rest are minor dignitaries the Norway delegation saw fit to bring, and not as important for you to remember. Once everyone has been formally presented, Thor will signal we're to be seated and I'll help you to your own. Be friendly and polite, and you'll do fine."

Of course, what neither of them knew was that Lady Sif had arrived from her time with SHIELD. She would be escorting the King of Norway--important honors for the important guests. Which Christine was being counted among. Ordinarily it would be Heimdall escorting her, but they'd found reasons for Loki to do so--Thor did have some consideration for others and liked seeing his brother actually happy. Without the cause of that happiness being general chaos.

"You will have an advantage. I have never been as close, mentally, with anyone else to the point where they can speak back. So if you have questions or need coaching, I won't hesitate to answer or do so."

It all sounds simple enough, bow, be nice. She will look in place enough to fit in well enough.

"You are always rather close." Given their mental connection she just needs to ask.

She glances at herself in the mirror.

"I need a necklace." She touches her bare throat.

Nodding, Loki lead the way to the mirror, before moving to stand behind her. Tracing his fingers softly against her throat, there was a greenish-yellow shimmer. Manifesting a golden, flowing necklace that mimicked the lines of her blouse. "I can try other options, if you'd like?

She leans into his touch a bit, eyes falling shut for a moment. She can feel the necklace as it forms on her neck.

She opens her eyes to look at it.

"It's beautiful." She nods, "you continue to surprise me with your fashion sense."

"I should be insulted that you're surprised." With a soft snort. "Any other adornment you'd like?" Leaning his head down to kiss her hair.

She chuckles.

"Maybe something to hold my hair up?" She looks good with her hair pulled up, it draws attention to her face.

"Do you want it all the way up, or simply pulled back?' Hands moving to her hair, and letting more magic wash over her, ensuring she's dry and looks put-together so far.

She likes the way his magic feels when it washes over her, it's subtle, a very light brush against her skin.

"What do you think? I usually just pull it back."

Most people couldn't detect it. That she could, made her very very special. Running his fingers through her hair, Loki hmm'd softly in thought, before sweeping her hair back from her face. She'll feel it pulling back, framing her face but out of her way, and held securely.

One hand moving out, Loki manifested a hand mirror. Holding it up so she could admire the look.

It probably had something to do with the strength of their link overall.

She looks in the mirror and grins.

"Can I just let you dress me anytime I need to look nice?" Because damn if he's not great at it.

"So long as I'm the only one helping you undress as well, I'll do that." Kissing her forehead. "A good lie always has style to it, and helps it to be more believable. A good story as well." Which explained why he was good at it.

Vanishing the mirror again, he wrapped his arms around her while they looked at each other in the mirror. "Now, let me show you how to form an attack so you won't need to lower your shield. At least, the easiest way for you, for now. You might also have noticed I often speak when giving people suggestions too. Sometimes, for simple commands, I needn't do so. But it makes it easier."

"I think that can be arranged." She has no intention of sleeping with anyone else.

She leans her body back just a little to press to him.

Christine imagines her shield, making sure it is as she wants it to be before they work.

"So it comes from multiple angles?"

"Also to make it stronger. Most people have a basic level of natural shielding, and depending on how strong willed they are, it can be harder to influence." Curling her closer while he spoke, expression turning serious. "The last time I had any kind of ease in dealing with minds, the way I do with you, I was in possession of the scepter."

That is a bit of a concern.

"So you could make me do anything you wanted?"

She had heard stories about people who had been mind controlled, she didn't know how much of it she believed until she met him.

"With the scepter, yes. With you as you are now?" He wasn't shying away from the topic, blue-green eyes serious as they looked at her own via their reflections. "Not nearly so easily. You'd detect me, and I've shown you ways to resist. No doubt the sorcerer will as well."

I also have no desire to. The only way I would attempt to make you do anything would be if it's necessary--such as you being in danger and needing to defend yourself more than you already can. It was part of why, though he embraced this---whatever it was--with Christine, Loki kept himself cautious too. That he respected her, and could recognize he was fond of her. Extremely fond of her.

She nods, she has gotten better at detecting his suggestions, so she would likely know about it even if he was doing it to protect her.

"I do suspect Stephen will want to make sure I'm mentally strong as well."

I welcome your protection. And if you make me move to keep me from dying, I'm okay with that.

"He should, and if he's not stupid, he's likely going to find ways to help you shield and be more protected from me in particular." Which Loki clearly was not very thrilled about, but recognized the necessity of. "There are still things out there that I am learning, Christine. They're as much a danger to you as other things too."

Shifting his hold only slightly, still keeping her close and bowing his head against her own. "But yes, on to the basics. This will be most effective if used with a verbal command to help shape and direct the thought. Add emotion to it, and I know you'll be effective."

Gently, he showed her an illusion of her shields, his own over hers. "You want to imagine it like a targeted strike and touch. Sharp, piercing and precise. Like so." A pause, and he moved to show her a suggestion "Go away."

Command in his voice, and it was like a part of the shield formed a needle like whisp, expanding outwards and seeking some nebulous target.

"It probably would be smart to be able to keep you out if I need to." She needs to be able to keep them both safe as much as she can.

The desire to move is strong, she can visualize the command coming at her and she feels more layers of her shield coming towards the area. She doesn't want to go away.

He nodded in approval as she didn't move. "Try it yourself." Gently brushing her mind--extending a mental hand, as it were. So she could find him, without him slipping away.

She can still see her shield, and she can feel him. She holds on to them both, focusing her emotion and effort into a word.

"Step back." She can see her little dagger, not as well formed as his but it's there.

It was hard to not resist her. To let himself be vulnerable. But Loki was nothing if not strong-willed and stubborn.

In the physical world, she felt him twitch subtly, but otherwise he didn't move.

"I'm not actively resisting you, either, Sweetling."
