"If that's the case" she dips her head into his touch before she turns to go grab his gift, wrapping her robe around herself on the way.

It had taken a lot of work, but she found a little bookstore that had a old magic text. The owner didn't realize what it was but Christine could feel the magic radiating from it, and it had parts written in Nordic runes.

She returns a moment later to hold out the book to him.

Ah, so this was the game. Low chuckling and Loki made himself breathe. He could be patient, and he wasn't so aroused that it was stiflingly frustrating yet. Watching her every movement with simmering heat in blue-green eyes.

He can feel that magic in the book too, and the cover... His brows shot up. That book was old, but so well preserved. "Now where did you find this, Sweetling?" Taking the book carefully, before proceeding to skim through it.

"I've been visiting antique bookshops for a few weeks." Hoping to find something for him.

"That one absolutely radiates magic, and it's got runes, felt like something you would want to see."

Skimming through it, Loki felt any frustration vanish entirely as he realized just what she'd found. Naked wonder on his face, before closing the book and sliding his arm around her waist and hip. Pulling her close and kissing her deeply. Thanking her, trying to communicate just how pleased he was.

I'm going to teach you runes, and you, my Christine, have found a true treasure.

That kiss is a surprise and she's melting against him. She thought the book was good, she had no idea how good.

Christine, I will need to read it to be certain, but you may've found a valuable book of history that predates Asgard proper. That hand around her splayed lower against her hip and ass, pulling her tighter against him. He's murmuring against her mouth quickly, holding the book up. She'd detect a spell, not unlike when he veil'd them and concealed their presence. A moment later the book is vanishing in a shimmer of greenish yellow.

Oh. That's surprising.

She can sense his magic much better now, it feels different, more distinctive.

"Putting it somewhere safe?"

"And concealing it for now." Loki confirmed, pulling away only enough to speak. "I hope you didn't have any plans this evening." Because he's picking her up, encouraging her legs around his waist, and starting to walk back towards the bedroom.

He intended to leave them both pleasantly exhausted for the next few hours.

She laughs as she wraps her legs around him.

"Don't worry, I knew I'd be busy with you." She even took the next day off knowing she would be tired and worn out.

"I am rather demanding of your attention, aren't I?" Brushing her mind with warm caresses, and as they reach the bed, he's murmuring to her in a mix of languages. How clever she is, how much he savors her touch, finds her beautiful for how her soul shines through in everything she does. There is no doubt he is extremely fond of her, and wants her.

Certain to leave them both exhausted, mixing sweet and gentle with fiery passion that demanded she challenge him.

It would be a very late dinner, probably after sleep, as they lay in the afterglow, tangled with each other on her bed.

"You are." She savors him, he's absolutely wonderful as a lover, she feels all that passion and fondness that he gives her.

They do eventually eat something, while curled around one another on the sofa.

Dressed just enough to be decent, and feeling pleasantly lazy and boneless. Mouth against her hair, just absorbing her and her presence. "What else has the sorcerer been teaching you?" Curiosity in his voice. "When you feel up to it, I can also teach you how to conjure and de-conjure your dagger."

"I'm working on some transmutation. Just a few basic things. And astral projection, the sorcerer's love projecting." She's happy, just wrapped up with him.

She holds out a hand and conjures a single coin in it.

"I'm still doing small things, coins, flowers."

"I wasn't sure how far along you were, hence my gifts." Holding out his hand, he lets fireworks come to his palm.

"They're wonderful. The gifts and the fireworks."

As she's growing more in tune with magic, she finds his more fascinating.

She makes a little orchid flower for him.

Now they're just showing off.

They are, but it's adorable. "Should I turn that into a frog for you, Sweetling?" Playful mischief in his voice, spoken against her forehead.

"I don't have a good place to keep a magic frog." And they've already talked about her aversion to killing things.

That he'd asked at all was part of a sign of how he cared for her. Otherwise he'd have just gone ahead and done it. Letting the fireworks go in favor of wrapping his arms around her once more instead, he hmm'd against her brow. "What is your schedule like this week? I have to meet with Strange, and if things go...well enough, I may be meeting either with SHIELD or Tony Stark. Or both. Meeting as me, no less." Not as Eric.

"I took off most of the week" she tucks the flower into his hair.

"I'm working Wednesday and Thursday. I've heard Stark has the same ego as you."

"I've met the man. He is quite full of himself. I doubt he'll be pleased to see me. I'm not entirely looking forward to it either, but it may be necessary." A pause. "Whether I like it or not, there is...a potential for trouble coming that threatens all of us. That is why I plan to talk to Strange."

"What sort of threat?" She is concerned, and it is felt through the link as well.

"The being who gave me access to the scepter and the chitauri, when I invaded." Treating this seriously. "I...I'm going to share some very private things with you, Christine." It was definitely serious when he used her name. "Things I haven't shared with others--and logically, I probably shouldn't with you." But he wanted to, even though it made no sense.

"It started 6 or so years ago. Thor was to have his coronation day, as Father was getting older. We're not immortal, but our lifespans are so different as to make us functionally so. I played a prank, to disrupt Thor's day, by letting 3 frost giants into the realm unseen. I did not know I was adopted at the time. I found out, later, when Thor defied our Father's order and took me, Lady Sif, and the warriors Three to Jotunheim to demand answers. A jotunn's touch in their native environment was able to burn the flesh with cold. It happened to Fandrel, and almost happened to me. Except...I wasn't burned. My skins started to turn the same shade as their own."

"Whatever you tell me will be in confidence." Because it's important and because he is important.

She is carefully focused on his story.

"That's how you found out." She feels for him, a bit of sadness at how he found out he was adopted.

"It sparked my curiosity. We would've died that day, had Odin not rescued us. I had let a guard know Thor's intention, before we left for the bifrost. What I didn't know was just how angry Father would be--that we were on the cusp of starting a war. He banished Thor, after stripping him of his powers and Mjolnir. Sent him and the hammer to Midgard." Pausing, setting his thoughts in order. "There is an artifact, that Father had taken from the Jotunn, called the Winter Casket. When they'd tried to invade a thousand years ago, they used it to try and turn Midgard into a realm of ice and snow more to their tastes. I went to Father's vaults, and held it...and it revealed the truth to me. Father came to talk, and I confronted him."

Now he's hiding his head against her hair, unused to letting himself be so vulnerable and bare. "I was....angry. Confused. I'd apparently been left to die; the King, Laufey, not caring for a runt. Odin took me---I was convinced it had to be for a purpose and he would tell me. Why wouldn't he just tell me."

Christine wraps him a bit tighter in her embrace.

Her mind reaches to hold him just the same as her body is. As with most humans she had only heard gossip about what had happened before the invasion.
