"Sure." She sets her head on his shoulder.

"I should be, yeah."

He's a good height for that, and she gets a small, but genuine smile. The Norns had indeed smiled on his misadventure it seemed.

Out of the apartment they went, and to the streets To the corner of the block, sharp eyes-watching and studying everything. Before giving her hand a small pat and disengaging. So he could step up and hail a taxi. Just enough magic and suggestion to get one for them fairly easily, and then he's playing the gentleman and helping her in.

Sure to meet the driver's eyes while speaking, as he continues his mental nudging. The address he gives is definitely on the higher end, uptown.

It's not her mind so it's actually more interesting than anything. In the back of the cab she stays close to him, they may as well make it look like a proper date afterall.

Loki does not object to this at all. As much as the cab driver is a New Yorker--and they were stubborn--he's had some practice at this form of mental manipulation. Especially recently, given what had brought him back. He wanted to leave no trail, just half-remembered stories at worst. Which meant no digital or electronic or paper trails...

"Careful Doctor, I might start to think you like me." He teased, leaning his head closer to hers so he could whisper it.

"Isn't this a date, Eric?" She looks over at him, her voice just as low.

It feels easier to flirt with Loki in disguise, as if it's less problematic.

"I suppose it does qualify." Which means he only adds to it by leaning up to nuzzle her hairline at her forehead. "And I've certainly had far worse company before."

They sure do look rather cozy in the backseat. The nuzzling is so affectionate and she finds she quite enjoys it.

"Am I not the best company yet?"

She was learning just part of why he could be so dangerous--he could be charming. Without any mental manipulation at all. None of the heroes had ever seen this side, so how would they have known?

"Certainly best compared to what I had." Which had been none before. Spoken against her forehead, breath moving against her hair.

As cozy as it is, they are nearing their destination.

He's incredibly dangerous, with how easily he makes her comfortable and flirtatous.

Maybe he should have just tried to woo the avengers.

She gives his hand a light little squeeze.

"Where are we going anyway?"

"Daniel's." The Chef, Daniel Boulud's flagship French restaurant. Jackets required, and very pricey. "I've actually been in the city a few times before now, unnoticed. Did some scouting." More truth--but not enough to actually tell her anything. But that Loki had confided at all spoke to a certain amount of willingness to trust her. Or it could be that he didn't think she could use the information in any way against him. Odds were good on both options.

"Fancy. Reservations are nearly impossible to get." She has heard of it, it's the sort of place the doctors that ask her out would take her. The sort of place that shows they don't worry about money.

Loki is showing off in a very different way, by proving he can get them in with only his powers.

"You have a little fondness for the city it seems."

"It's been where most of my leads have started." Another answer with hints of truth to it. Pulling away from her just so they aren't quite so cozy. "But I might be getting fonder of it."

Besides showing off, Loki did have a taste for the finer things in life. He'd been raised a prince, but also fallen to the lowest depths he could before and survived. Above all, he preferred the former to the latter.

Not much longer.

"Oh really?" She doesn't buy for one second that he's actually fond of her. She's not stupid, he doesn't do sentiment, after all.

He moves away a bit, but she's still holding his hand. It's such a little gesture but it does feel quite nice.

The cab pulls up a moment later and Christine says thanks as she slips out.

Smart. It's part of why they get along. But she is also the one that pointed out he has a heart, it's just very selective.

Helping her out, making sure she has her balance and is unruffled before talking to the driver once more. Cementing his spell, planting the illusion in the other's mind by a light touch against the Driver's shoulder. Then offering her his arm once more to escort her into the building and restaurant.

"Reservation for Eric Nordson" Loki informs the host. A mental suggestion, but also a light tap of his hand against the host's stand. Changing their listings to match what he's planted in the other's mind. Then they're being escorted back to a very nice table for two.

He truly is disgustingly charming when he wants to be. He could have taken over the planet much easier this way.

The way he makes sure she's stable is really thoughtful when she's in heels.

It's also interesting to watch his magic in action, that tiny touch that adds a name to the books. It's not noticeable if you aren't looking for it.

They're led to a quiet little table and she finally, lets go of him.

"The interior is even better than the reviews made it out to be."

As he'd promised himself he would be, Loki was on his best manners. Pulling out her chair, helping her be seated, and only then taking his own. "Then you haven't been here before?" To be fair, he hadn't either--but he wasn't going to let her know that.

"I mean, saving one's life does require an appropriate reward." Loki probably would've been alright... But he hadn't had a wound bleed out like that, for real, in quite some time. He also remembered just how cold and tired he had felt.

"Didn't want to come by myself. And the last man to ask me out was this plastic surgeon who is truly an irredeemable asshole."

Which is saying so much with her history and who she is with now.

He's on his best behavior and she does wonder if he's trying to seduce her.

"I do recall you saying you would have been fine. So maybe you didn't need me at all."

"Now that sounds like a story." There's definitely curiosity in his eyes and smile. "And maybe. But as it is, you did find me, and stitch me up, and allow me to rest. Which ensured I would be alright."

"It is not a story at all. He's a terrible man, is only a doctor for the money, keeps asking me out and offering to do a boob job for me."

Truly the way to a womans heart, free tits. She's leaned a bit across the table to be just a little bit closer.

"I'm just glad I was able to help."

Loki blinks, then snorts and doesn't bother to hide his disdain. "Sounds as if he's compensating for something, but I do hope you didn't find out. You'd have wasted your time and that's a precious thing for you." Especially since they had discussed how humans had so little of it.

She wasn't the most physically beautiful woman he'd ever seen. But she certainly didn't need enhancement. Not when her spirit and mind shone through to enhance what physical beauty she did have.

"It's certainly been a more interesting experience than a tour of central park." With a sly little grin, and amusement in his voice.

Their waitstaff was fast approaching, soon to get their attention.

"I absolutely did not find out."

Though there had been a moments temptation about the boobs, just a tiny second of consideration on if she wanted to change hers before deciding against it.

"You don't know that. I'm a great tour guide."

"Then perhaps the next time I'm in town, I'll take up your challenge. Find out how interesting a tour guide you are." Still with that little grin, before giving his attention to the waitstaff. This was the kind of restaurant you ordered all your courses before hand, and it was all fancy, complete with French names where appropriate. Which Loki had no difficulty pronouncing, as he placed his order then looked at her. While he didn't actually speak French, he was fluent in Latin.

Christine does have a passing knowledge of French from college and her pronunciation is pretty good when she orders.

"Should we have wine or champagne?" She asks him.

"My preference is for wine always, but if you'd prefer champagne..." With a nod of his head and hand towards her. When they had taken breaks earlier during their training, he had opted for water though.
