He's so fast. Loki and all of his mirrors move with rapid precision. Christine sends some electrified energy ropes to wrap one of the trolls while summoning her knife back to her hand.

Her primary focus in making sure Loki is safe and able to attack when needed. She keeps shielding him when she can but everything is moving so fast.

Combat could be like that. And really all a troll needs is to get one good grab on him... Hopefully Christine is paying attention though as the one she'd blinded in one eye has managed to spot her and is advancing quickly. It's reaching out for her with one great arm to try and grab her.

There's a scream as it tries to grab her and narrowly misses. She hits it with a bolt of energy to try to slow it down.

It staggers and she doesn't miss her chance to throw her dagger again. It might be the only chance she gets.

Her scream grabs Loki's attention, and her dagger is suddenly enveloped in green as he pulls it straight into the trolls throat. Continuing the motion by gripping the troll with telekinesis, and pulling it off its feet with a heave.

Of course, then he's flying through the air into the cavern wall, all the copies disappear, as another troll had taken advantage of his distraction to smack him hard. Another is there to follow up, picking him up by the throat and moving to smash him into the wall again.

She doesn't have a moment to process the gore before he's being thrown.

All logic and practice goes out of the window and is replaced by fear and rage. She doesn't know what will work so she's throwing everything she can at the troll; suggestions and emotions. She's running towards the danger, summoning as much electricity as she can muster to try to get the troll to drop Loki.

The trolls that are still standing move to clutch their heads, including the one that had been holding Loki. He's dropping to the ground with a thud, but appears conscious at least. Whatever pain he's in, he's fighting through--these guys were nothing like the Hulk smashing him.

"Christine, duck!" He yells, summoning what strength he can and waiting until she is doing so before letting a wave of magic and telekinesis knock everyone to the ground. It's about all he has for the moment, to help buy them some time.

She's running towards him and ducking when he yells.

Her sling ring is being quickly put on. If she can put some distance between them and the cave, they have a chance.

She imagines the rocks they were sitting on as she cuts a portal in the air.

The 3 remaining trolls are stunned, but not down. Starting to lumber after her and towards their targets. Loki groans but manages to stagger to his feet at least. Reaching out a hand and twisting, creating illusory copies of himself and Christine to try and confuse the trolls.

She's grabbing him to help tug him towards the portal. They have speed on their side to some degree at least. She shoots a few energy bolts at the trolls to try to keep them slow.

Speed on their side yes, but once a troll gets moving it can move fast and one has managed to lumber through the portal with them. Roaring in confusion at the change in scenery, its red eyes glare at the pair. Starting to lumber forward except Loki has his hand out again, and is pushing back, using telekinesis. Definitely injured and not thinking clearly if he's relying on brute force...

Christine is doing the same, pushing the thing as hard as she can. Her willfullness is strong and with the two of them the troll inches back.

"I have to close the portal!" She yells, they don't want the others to make it out as well.

"Do it. I've got this." Red eyes narrow, as Loki twists his hands, putting more force into his shove. His breathing is more shallow--likely a rib or two broken. He'll heal though.

Christine better be fast as the other two trolls are close to the portal and one might make it through.

The troll has been pushed far enough that it's arm is though the portal. Christine slams the portal shut, parting the troll from his arm. As at least one other troll slips through the portal.

"Fuck."

"Later, Sweetling." Trust Loki to be able to tease in a time like this. Redoubling his effort to hold them back, he sweeps his hands out, aiming to knock them down. Buy him and Christine some time, while he brings up more illusory copies of them--surrounding the trolls, hopefully it'll confuse them.

Because he's going down to one knee and feeling the strain.

She feels magic coming to her, an extra strength in the crisis. She sends the trolls the suggestion of fighting one another.

Christine is coming to Loki, and projecting the strongest shield she can in front of them.

"Where are you hurt?"

"Definitely a rib or three." He lets himself relax only marginally when that shield is up. Also sensing magic, but he'll have to analyze it later. "Mostly bruises I think, except for the ribs. Definitely feel like I got knocked around." So potential concussion symptoms too.

It's a wan smile, but still a smile--reaching up to touch her face. "We'll get through this, Christine. I have no intention of letting you or myself die today."

Neither have noticed the change in Christine's armor, it's hidden under the coat and furs. She can feel a difference though, her magic feels stronger, her shield is more stable.

"I need you in fighting form." She presses a hand lightly to his side, it's going to wear her thin, to hold the shield while energy healing him, but she needs him.

"I hate that you're right." Because he did hate that she was using raw energy. Red-eyes watched the trolls, keeping an eye on them while she worked. Loki reached out one hand though, for her shoulder--trying something he'd never done before. Using the link between them, to try and feed her energy. To share the burden.

They didn't have the time for her to do any other method. She can feel it when he offers her energy and it does help. Their strength when combined makes fairly quick work of broken ribs.

It may feel a bit odd, his bones shifting slightly inside of his chest, but they are going back where the need to be.

Loki doesn't flinch, or grimace. He's been through worse pain, and she's only speeding up what his natural regeneration is already going to do. Instead he's keeping his eyes on their opponents, and pondering strategy. Trusting her to do what she does best.

There is a different feel about her however, one that can't simply be their link alone. Ideas and forgotten rumors and tales are swirling in his head. Along with what the Norns said...

"This is a test, of some kind."

"It's a pretty shit test." She's trusting him to keep an eye on the trolls while she focuses on healing him.

"I can portal one somewhere else, probably." She is running low on both energy and ideas.

"They usually are, Sweetling. Save your strength." Because if this was a test, there had to be a way to pass it. Which likely meant dealing with the trolls. "You've whittled their numbers, and crippled one. I'll handle the rest."

He wasn't sure where this certainty was coming from either. It was like a half-remembered dream, feeding him clues. "Be ready to shield yourself, Christine." Because she'd done the work she needed, and now it was his turn.

She can feel his confidence and it encourages her. She trusts him. The link is briefly flooded with love.

"Ready." She's prepared to drop the larger shield to create a smaller one.

It's entirely unconscious on his part, but the link is flooded back. Pride and joy and protectiveness and worry and care and concern and trust...and that undercurrent of love. Hiding under all the rest, as though to keep him from noticing it.

With a nod, Loki gets to his feet more fully. His breathing is better, and any bruises that remain will heal rapidly anyways. They need to finish this and get out of the cold for her sake. A moment to be sure she has her shield ready, before he's stepping away from her. Moving to the side, studying the remaining two trolls.

"Over here you galumphing piles of stone-for-brains." It's called in challenge, grabbing their attention. Dagger summoned to one hand, and his other held out--summoning something else. A short sword, golden in blade--that a moment later lights on fire.

His distraction gives her time to put up a new shield to keep herself safe. She does send a little confusion to one of the trolls in hopes Loki will get a moment between the two.

He summons his dagger and then something new. The flaming sword is a surprise.
