Loki is there to catch her easily. Picking her up, cradling her close. That link is still open and now the emotions are all focused on her. Worry and concern and pride and admiration and care and protectiveness and love too. Loki doesn't seem to even realize that's what he's feeling. More concerned and looking around before spotting a tree creature.

Then the link is closed as he's striding forward to the being....who's playing a video game mini console of some kind? "You. Where is Thor Odinson?"

"I am Groot." The being responds, with casual teenage apathy and arrogance.

Because that is so helpful. It's Nidavellir, but why is it dark? Where are all the dwarves? Loki needed answers, and a place for Christine to rest.

When she wakes up, there will be quite a story to tell her... She'll be lying carefully out of the way of the main action, but as comfy as could be made in a forge built around a neutron star.

Somewhere in her unconscious state she is feeling all of that and it is nice.

It's not too long before she wakes, she just needed a bit of a rest. She stirs slowly and looks around.

"Loki?"

"Christine!"
"Christine!"
"What's a Loki?"

2 voices in unison, and one slightly after. Thor and Loki are both soon at her side, though only Loki is reaching for her to help her sit. There's also a talking bipedal raccoon and a taller living tree being looking at her too. "I am Groot?"

"Loki is my brother, sweet rabbit" Thor says in answer to the question. "Christine, how do you feel? We've little time to waste..."

Be honest Sweetling--yes, time is of the essence but *you* are more important to me.

She sits up and looks around. Loki, Thor, a talking racoon and a tree. So either they made it or she died.

"I'm ok. We found you then." She says to Thor.

I'm a bit tired but I'm okay.

"Glad I am to hear it. Your own quest was successful?" Thor said, smiling at his friend.

"Despite the Norns being as cryptic as ever, yes." Loki responded, blue-green eyes (once more) studying her carefully. "We're probably headed into a battle--are you sure you're alright?"

"I am Groot."

"No, sure, nobody's asking if we're alright with it..." Rocket said sarcastically. "What's the fuss about a human?"

"She is my friend and a powerful sorceress and healer. We'll likely need her aid as much as we need yours. Or are you backing out now?"

"I am Groot!"

"Hell naw we ain't backing out, Thor. You should know us better than that."

"I only met you a few hours ago, sweet Rabbit."

While they were carrying on, Loki was focused on Christine. "Will you be alright?"

"Yes, I'm okay." She feels like she has recovered more or less.

"Why is the racoon so mean?" She can't help herself. If she's just a human, he's a glorified rat.

She turns her attention to Loki and she nods.

"Yes, I'll be alright."

"'s the 2nd time I've been called a raccoon. What's a raccoon?" Rocket asked.

"Apparently you are, and a mean one at that." Loki retorted, glaring.

"Brother, please...we're all on the same side." Thor said. "I am Groot." "Yes Groot, I know, Rocket lacks manners sometimes." Turning his attention to Christine, and offering her a hand up even as Loki was doing the same. "Forgive my new friends, Christine--we've all been under great duress. The Mad Titan is even now on Earth most likely, and we must stop him from gathering the Infinity Stones."

"There had better be a plan and 'Get help' had better be nowhere in it, Thor." Now Loki was glaring at his brother. "'Get help?'" Rocket asked, with a grin. "I dunno what that plan is but I like it. From the sounds of things we're going to NEED to get help."

She takes the hands offered to her. Letting Thor's go when she gets up, but giving Loki's a squeeze instead.

"Can someone explain what a titan and Infinity stone is on the way?" Since they're off world, it will take a minute to get back to Earth, right?

"It won't take us long to get back, Christine." Thor began, while Rocket opened his mouth, closed it, then opened it again to speak. "So Thanos is this mad Titan guy, who wants to use items of colossal power called Infinity Stones to wipe out half of the universe. Infinity stones are objects of great power from when the universe was formed."

"That was actually a rather good summary." Loki said, sounding surprised, before turning to Christine once more. "The Tesseract houses an Infinity Stone, as did the Aether, which had the power to rewrite reality. That's the level of power these stones have. There are 6 of them, and at least 3 are on Earth apparently." One of which is my fault, since I brought the tesseract.

"I am groot!" Spoke the tree being.

"Yes Groot, you're right. Everyone close to me." Thor said.

"Oh. That's... bad." She nods. "Let's go kill him, I guess?"

Christine stays close to Loki, one hand always touching him.

Where are the other ones that are on Earth?

They all gather close to Thor.

I have no idea. It depends on what they did with the scepter I had, for one's location. Thor seems to know though I've no idea how.

Rocket hops up onto Thor's shoulder, while Groot stands on the other side by the new axe.

"Nice weapon." Loki comments dryly, taking his place with Christine at Thor's side.

"Thank you. Let's hope it's enough." Thor said with a smirk, before holding it up.

Soon enough they were shooting through the galaxy in a column of rainbow colors and lights.

"You didn't mention it had bifrost capabilities!" Loki called to his brother, sounding jealous.

The bifrost is another surprise. And it's equally terrifying and awesome.

You have me, we can cut through to other worlds together.

It doesn't seem like Loki really needs the bifrost if he's with Christine.

and your sword catches fire.

She never lets go of Loki's arm, needing to make sure he was close.

True. There's amusement and laughter in the mental tone. And his mind moving to brush and hold hers. Every bit as much as he has his hand twined with hers where she's holding on to his arm.

In Wakanda, on the ground, it hasn't been a massacre thankfully. Only because the shield is open just enough to sort of make a chokepoint. But the Chitauri forces and the Black Order are not tiring, while Earth's defenders are.

Then several things at once happen. The bifrost touches down, and Thor sends out Storm Breaker across the field. Lightening follows in its wake, as it terrifies and leaves destruction of the Chitauri forces. Soon enough, Thor and the group with him are stepping out from the cloud of dust that had been brought up, the axe returning to Thor's hand.

Around the field, several familiar portals open, various forces and heroes arriving through them including Strange and the other acolytes. Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man and Iron-man, and a contingent of Asgardians, though small--lead by Heimdall, Sif, and Valkyrie--on a white, winged horse no less.

The defending Earth forces look stunned, but in a good way. The Chitauri have stopped for a moment, as the Black Order looks to Thanos for guidance. Thanos narrows his eyes, watching.

She doesn't know where they have landed except that it is Earth. Thor's axe is pretty damn impressive.

It's not until those portals start opening that she recognizes some of those people coming out.

Is she a superhero now? She's taking off the fur and coat. And her armor is different, she looks very much like she is meant to compliment Loki. And perhaps she is.

Some would say she's definitely a super hero. A squeeze of their joined hands, before Loki's removing his arm to conjure dagger in one hand and draw Laevateinn with the other. "So about that plan?" He prompts Thor, who looks to where Steve Rogers waits on the field.

Steve seems stunned for a moment, before recovering. "Get that gauntlet off him anyway you can! Avengers! ASSEMBLE!" There were the marching orders, as it were. Thor smirked, as did others; Thanos simply nodded and the Chitauri and Black Order advanced once more.

It was chaos--chaos which Loki was somewhat helping with considering he'd brought illusions and duplication into play once more. Sticking by Christine, as the pair soon found themselves by Heimdall, and by Wong. "Good to see you Christine." Wong got out, in between hits.

It's the Avengers, and for some reason, Christine. It's intimidating, absolutely, but she needs to be helpful.

"Jumping right into the big time." She's glad to see Wong though. The field has magic and weapons flying everywhere and Christine is popping shields up in front of everyone she can when they need them.

Not everyone there was an Avenger proper, but for this battle's purposes--they were all honorary avengers. Which included Christine.

"So we both are!" Wong said encouragingly. The four of them grouped up with another Asgardian and Acolyte or two, letting the bulk of the battle move away from them. Heimdall actually seemed to be directing, and leading; heading for people who needed healing. Forming a breathing and living shield around Christine who did what she could do best. Helping keep their numbers up.

It was chaos, and intimidating, but it was working. It allowed others to focus on engaging more directly. They hadn't gone unnoticed however. Soon enough one of the Black Order was coming over to hover above them. Ebony Maw never engaged directly, instead throwing needles or debris at them with advanced telekinesis. Including sweeping them all of their feet and away from Christine, whom he then sent thin needles after in a targeted blast.

Once they are able, Christine is right to healing the wounded. She uses her energy for the most urgent and casts slightly slower spells for everyone else.

It seems to all happen in slow motion, everyone is thrown to the side and Christine is putting herself in front of the injured as she watches those needles come from the sky. She is confident she is about to die. And it is a lot of needles that are pointed and coming directly at her.

Loki's scrambling to his feet, desperate to get in front of her, a hand flung out and trying to pull the needles away...

But they don't hit Christine--they stop against the air, as if they're piercing a shield. There is a very faint shimmer to the air around Christine and her patient. Maw glowers, and pulls the needles back, then has to dodge as a dagger was thrown at him. Loki is repeatedly conjuring and throwing daggers, driving him back, joined soon by Wong and Heimdall, and Zhang and Asger. forming a half-dome around Christine and her patient.

"Wong!" Loki calls, and the other starts throwing up small energy discs. Loki sweeps his hand wide, twisting it as he did, as illusions now surround Maw. Their small force multiplied and replicated to give Maw many targets. Heimdall takes the direct root, as Maw once again targets Christine and her patient with some needles. Parrying them with his blade, and keeping watch.

The needles just sort of stop. She doesn't have much time to consider it as she's throwing a further shield up around the injured.

She's not so worried about herself, not now that she seems to have an extra shield.

She can see the rage in Loki's eyes though, as he's running up those stairs.

The way Wong was positioning them it wasn't so obvious they were stairs, thankfully. It was a wonder how he and the acolyte had worked this out, but they had. Heimdall, Asger, and Zhang protected Christine and her patient, while Loki used his own telekinesis to redirect needles away from Wong, and Wong made shield-discs in the air that he could use as platforms.

Christine, Sweetling, would you mind sending a targeted blast of *some* kind at him? I need an opening.. Cold and focused rage was under the request.

Because Loki was getting close, but was busy parrying needles with telekinesis or Laevateinn.

Any time, my love. there was an anger of her own at this creature that had the audacity to attack a healer and her patient.

She targets and sends confusion, strong and direct, enough to catch the thing off guard for long enough to give Loki an opening.

Maw shakes his head, needles dropping as he struggles for a second. Then sends out another blast intended to knock them down--but it's too late. Loki's already jumping and in the air. Coming from behind Maw, over the being and striking out with Laevateinn straight for the others throat. Maw has a second of his eyes going wide, before his head is struck from his body, Loki falling to the ground as Wong further sends out a magic burst of his own.

It's a moment of reprieve, before the battle once more catches up with them all, and they go back to their original plan.

Fortunately, it won't be a battle much longer as soon enough, the Chitauri are stopping, confused, and being driven back. No one to guide them, as Thanos has died somewhere on the field. They did it...

Unlike the first decapitation she's seen today, this one makes her a little bit satisfied.

She can breathe for a moment before it's back to shielding and casting as much as she can.

And then things just stop. There's a retreat, and a cheer in the distance.

Christine is mentally reaching out to Loki, calling him to her.

There's a brush of his mind in return, emotions of relief and worry sent. "Heimdall, what do you see?" Loki asked, as he and the other moved back towards their position they'd held. The guardian was quiet for a moment. "One of Thanos' children still lives. She is calling the retreat. Our forces are being certain they're going."

All of which was good news. Now it was just clean-up, and aftermath. Loki stayed by Christine, as did Asger (the Asgardian who looked to be in his late teens, who'd joined up with them) as they wandered the field, to help heal others. They weren't the only group to do so. It was disheartening work in some cases, but it could've been so much worse.

A called warning went out up and down the line. The scarlet Witch was floating out to a section of the battlefield where no one lived--ready to destroy the mind stone. It was the only one they knew for sure could be destroyed.

Eventually though, the Avengers and allies were able to rest. Many returned home--Steve and Wong and the other Acolytes. The Guardians went with them, back to their space ship, intending to try and find a way to hide some of the Infinity Stones anew. Others were offered the hospitality of Wakanda, if they did not accept portals back home. Thor elected to remain, to catch up with his friends.

Loki still stayed in the shadows, knowing he was...less than welcomed even now though no one was calling for his blood. Mostly he supported Christine, who was working now with Shuri and other healers and doctors in Wakanda.
