That bruise on her face is only a reminder to him that he failed, and she suffered. "It was not your fault." Loki shot back, amazed that he still sounded so calm. "They deliberately exploited a weakness of yours, after somehow infiltrating places we thought were safe."

"You're mad, and it's because of my weakness."

She's upset at being used as a ploy in all this. It makes her feel just as weak as when she had first met him.

"Should I go back to New York for a while?"

He looked like he'd been struck. "Absolutely not." Yes, he was mad. And maybe part of it was at her, but not because she was weak. He wasn't entirely sure why he was mad at her as it was a tangled not. He was far more angry with those who did this though.

"And stop blaming yourself because it is not your fault."

She frowns, she doesn't like this anger when it feels like it's directed at her.

"Fine! It wasn't my fault but I was too weak to fight back."

She's a bit mad too, she had been assulted and kidnapped; it's finally really registering as to what happened.

Which is ironic, because he's trying very hard not to direct it at her. "Everyone has their moments, and sometimes those moments get exploited. That doesn't mean you're weak."

It's more that she can't stop blaming herself for his negative emotions.

"I could have caused a war. I'm not worth that, Loki."

Striding over, Loki took her face gently in his hands. "You are to me." Because he knew that was true, and it scared him a bit.

"You know if it was a choice between me and a war, I'd want you to stop the war, right?"

She wouldn't want to cost lives in exchange for her own. She sets her hands on top of his.

"I....I do, and that scares me." All of this was new to Loki, and certain things were falling into place and he was not at all sure how to handle it. As it was, he was keeping tight control over his emotions so he didn't project because as much as he was not clear, he wanted to at least speak clearly.

"You'd burn down a planet to save me wouldn't you?" She turns her head to kiss one of his palms.

She can tell he is having some inner turmoil and he's keeping his emotions tightly shielded.

"I would. And it's...." Taking a breath, trying to think of how to explain. "You're making me bleed. Because you're hurt, and you blame yourself, and you're not angry with me for not being able to save you, and just so. damn. kind."

Love is a dagger indeed...

She stands to hug him, wrapping her arms tight around him.

"I don't want to make you bleed." She's a healer after all. She projects her calm, her patience.

If Loki wasn't confused before, he sure is now. It takes a moment, before he's wrapping his arms around her too. Sighing, he rested his head against hers. "I am...calmer. Thor has made his position very clear, as has Lady Sif, and both have...actually tried to help me. It is not just me who is upset you were taken."

Then he's tilting her head up again, gently and carefully. "Go soak, Christine. You need to rest still. I'll be here."

Loki couldn't promise he might not have a tantrum later, but he'd try to do so away from her.

"I am... honestly, very honored and flattered that so many people are upset."

She's brushing her fingers through his hair and caressing his cheek.

"Soak with me. Your tub is big and I don't want to be alone."

"You're worth it." Leaning into her touch, eyes closed because he's still trying to sort out the tangled knot inside him. Now that he thinks he's found an 'end' piece to start unraveling it from.

So he nods, and lets her lead the way. Setting the water running, before turning to her. "Think of somewhere that makes you happy and you feel rested. Somewhere you've always wanted to go. Picture it in your mind."

She takes his hand to lead him to the bathroom.

She nods. She imagines a bungalow set over clear blue water, the sun set casting a rainbow of colors over the horizon.

"Ok."

Gently reaching for her forehead, Loki places his hand against her skin. Sharing that image through their link, using it to shape the illusion he casts over the bathroom. "It's...not perfect. But open your eyes."

She opens her eyes to see her imagined world painted around her.

"It is perfect. I didn't paint you in my mind because you're right here."

Yes, she is that sweetly sentimental sometimes.

Loki didn't do sentiment--not really. But he did have a very selective heart--and Christine had her place within it. One of high prominence.

"We'll make the real thing happen sometime, Sweetling. I promise you."

She doesn't hold back her affections because she knows how rarely he's received true affection in his past.

"I could make us a portal right now." A pause, "Probably not literally, I'm tired."

She's carefully undressing so she can get into the tub, there are a few more small bruises from the rough handling she received.

"I wouldn't let you." Because she was tired. Coming over to help her undress, careful of her bruises. Each one making his rage simmer further under the surface, but he kept it shoved down away from her. Instead each one received gentle kisses. Helping her settle in the tub, before Loki was undressing to and moving to join her.

"I'll speed up the healing after I rest for a bit." She needs to get her energy back up to heal herself with.

She is careful getting in the tub, though she makes a content little sigh when she sinks into the warm water.

And then she's welcoming Loki into the tub with her. She just wants to have him close.

"Take your time, Sweetling. There is nothing urgent awaiting you." He's curling her close, letting her lean on him while he nuzzles her hair. Still trying to put his thoughts and emotions in order. "...I've never let myself be someone else's."

She happily cuddles against him, letting the warmth soothe her aching muscles.

"Has no one been interesting enough?"

"I've never trusted anyone enough to be that close." Loki said quietly, one hand coming up to stroke her hair. "It....amazes me. And scares me. That I trust you so deeply." Pausing, trying to figure out how to put it in words. "It's why you can make me bleed."
