I'll swing by after my shift tomorrow. I've secured employment at Clotilda's. It's not the first time I've had to work, but it is not how I usually do things. Still, her style is impeccable and it's fairly easy.

[Awaiting under the giant Christmas tree with Loki's name on it is a little Christmas Pixie with a darker green cap to match the green Loki likes.

Made out of yarn as best she could is a little stuffed snake and to go along with it, after learning about it, a Yule Goat though it's got some hay and straw sticking out here and there.

[Loki was and was not surprised, and was touched. Alice had very quickly wormed her way into a heart Loki guarded very very closely. It had only been in the last month or so that, well, he'd have claimed to have a heart. To care about others beyond himself... He was still learning to make sense of his emotions and feelings; emotions that were often volatile on a good day.

But Alice was a delight, and he had no regrets in 'adopting' her. The pixie and snake are placed on his bed, the goat in the tree--sticks sticking out and all. Then he's going to hunt up where Alice had gotten to; both to give her a hug and to make sure she'd found his gift to her as well.]

[Y-Yeah, so...Loki, he respects you enough to work with you on a common goal, but that doesn't mean he likes you, man. You haven't really maxed or even hit two slots on this young Hero's Social Link or whatever - it's still hovering at a solid one star. So, needless to say...he doesn't really go all out for you, o-oops?

The gift is set under the Christmas tree when all the others are, since Loki lives with Gamora and Alice, Katsuki can just come and go as he pleases (likewise with the young girl at his place), so it was the easiest to place. It's really not much, a basic baggy tied with colorful ribbon that holds an assortment of frosted holiday cookies which are stupid good. Soft, moist, and almost silky in texture and a ripe balance of sweet and a little buttery. They'd go great with tea or coffee...or cocoa, honestly. He doesn't stick around long, to see Loki open them or anything - the day is for Alice mostly, and she was the one who got utterly spoiled by the explosive blond, but...

[The little shit! Considering Loki wasn't expecting anything at all from Bakugou it was a surprise. Made him chuckle, and the cookies were greatly appreciated. It was hard not to indulge and eat them all right away--but Loki made himself be 'good'. For now. These would be a pleasure to be savored. He also had much to think about, regarding the younger blond.]

[Gamora waits for the storm to pass. Alice is a clever girl. If anyone can resist an implanted thought, it's her. The fallout is no less painful than hers. She may not have been pushed to do anything terrible. The opposite, she thinks. She allowed people who cared for her to play roles that didn't seem too out of character. Gamora is her family. She sees how fond she is getting of Loki and has been with that boy.

It still hurts to be forced to believe something that is not true. Gamora is giving Alice space at the moment. Readjusting to reality is never easy. She rather the girl make sense of things before running to comfort her. She needs to settle something else in the meantime. Being cast the role of mother to his father left her without a chance to talk.

Like it or not, she must speak to him. He is close to the one person she loves. Her anger with him is based on something he cannot possibly know. She knocks on the door to his room and waits with her hands behind in what passed for a parade rest back when she was with Thanos. Some things never left her.

When he opens the door, Gamora is immediately to the point.]

Are you willing to speak with me? [Cool, professional. It's a sharp contrast to the warm albeit confused mother.]

[Loki is keeping a discreet eye on Alice, but otherwise doing what he can to be...normal. Interact with her no more or less than he usually did. OTHER than when she'd approached him to apologize; he'd told her that it wasn't needed. The memory modification was not her fault, and he was sorry she was hurt by the breaking of it. He could not replace her father, nor could he necessarily say he'd be a good one in substitute, but if she wanted it then he would happily be her papa while here. Would be honored if he had a daughter like her. It was up to her and he'd respect whatever choice she'd make.

Deep inside, he is furious with Vaeros--but Loki knows how to play long games. There are other things to deal with in the day-to-day anyways. Some things left unsettled, so it isn't entirely a surprise when there's a knock at his door and Gamora is there.]

Is there a reason I shouldn't be?

[Because Loki is well aware there are things still in an undercurrent after the ball. Things not necessarily to do with Alice directly, but relating to her. He had been cast as Papa yes, but Gamora had been mother and that had to have left a mark on the woman.

His expression is pleasant if neutral, blue-green eyes studying her as he steps aside if she wants to come in to have some semblance of privacy. His own posture is casually relaxed. Not a parade-rest, but a similar 'waiting' style of stance that one might adopt during long talks.]

[ Loki likely noticed that Seto went quiet after the sleepr interaction for a bit...some time that evening (after work), he'd show up at the cottage with a pensive expression. A tentative knock, and he'd hope Loki answered---but he was prepared to greet Gamora and Alice, at least. ]

He'd just visited with Blake in the snow for a sparring match, but Loki wasn't also surprised to find Kaiba wandering his way over. So the other is invited in, although Loki's pulled his hair loosely back and has only his base layers on. Gesturing, as they head up to the god's room.]

I'm quite fine. I went in with Webby and Jenny, one of the new arrivals. In our own way, we all went in prepared for the worst--but ended up in an interesting room. I have pictures from it, if you'd like to see.

Kaiba was incredibly relieved to see the cottages come into view. Surely it'd be fine as long as they didn't touch any mirrors, right?

Oh Loki intended to take precautions with the mirrors by covering them if he could. Better safe that way. "You were reacting well, I just have more experience. And you quite nicely shocked it." Loki pointed out, stride quicker to get them to the cottage and in through the front door. Hopefully without more nonsense to divert them.

[Sorry Gamora, there is no response. Mostly because Loki is ignoring his Oracle and doesn't even have it on him. Might have to come find him, although it won't be too hard. He's actually out in the garden.]

[Puck doesn't even bother sending a message. He shapeshifts into Owen and approaches Loki's cottage with the cool assurance of any businessman. Someone he loves needs to see that Puck is there for him so Puck will be there for him in both aspects of himself.]

[With the knock, Loki frowned to himself before schooling his expression to be more neutral. Closed off, giving nothing away. He was curious, as much as he'd been keeping to himself since the Oracle had written his profile. Besides, it might be for Alice or Gamora.

When he opens the door, all that he allows is an eyebrow raise. And an up-and-down look. He knows who this really is, but if Puck is risking coming here as Owen... Best to act as if the man is a stranger, yes?]

After not getting a response, Seto waits a bit. He'd sensed Puck should probably go first on...this. But he starts looking around for Loki as soon as he feels ready. The house, further out...he won't give up.

Loki is, thankfully, not all that hard to locate. He's at the cottage, either within or in the garden. Mostly keeping to himself while he wrestles with some things. His oracle has been left up in his room for now, possibly laying where it had fallen after being thrown at a wall.

This time, this time he's in the main-room of the cottage. Far from the window, but in a corner. Just kind of tucked to himself and solemn. He'll watch Kaiba warily, a bit stand-offishly, when he notices the other. But there's no hostility. It's more a sense of 'waiting' to see how Kaiba's going to react.

[A few days after Sleeper, Eilonwy hand delivers a letter for Loki to his cottage. In a very "I'm getting used to this specific alphabet" hand is the following letter in runes:]

Hail, Loki!
I hope this letter reaches your hands sooner instead of later. With the unpleasantness of the last few days, I'd thought about writing you a letter on the device itself but then realized that wouldn't satisfy either myself or what I wish to say properly.

First, I meant what I said in my comment defending you and your character. I still do. Secondly, thank you for taking the oath you did to help me learn to become stronger. I didn't expect to hear one of Llyr's oaths spoken back to me in a moment of self doubt and fear, but hearing it along with the promise you gave helped me in ways I can't properly put into words. Know that they helped, and I won't dishonor that by being anything less than a good student in our practices together. If you ever wish to reach out, I'm usually at my cottage, but I won't keep the burden of communicating on you, so I'll visit again in 1 day hence.

May you continue to remember how many of us here consider you a friend.

[The letter is surprising both for its existence, and what it is written in. Opening it, Loki can't help the smile that comes when he sees the runes. It is a letter that is so very proper, but also so clearly "Eilonwy". It could always be a trap--and part of Loki's brain was still paranoid, still wary of being hurt again and betrayed.

But his time in Labyrinthum had also helped, giving him more reasons to fight that paranoia and old hurt. To want to take chances again, perhaps find friends--real friends--of his own. This letter was proof of that, and Loki tucked it carefully away to hold onto in times when he worried about slipping into old habits.

As it was, the time between it being sent and received, and when Eilonwy would call again was short enough that Loki would wait until she arrived. There to greet her knocks, with a small but genuine smile on his face. Easily inviting her in, as Loki had prepared tea and snacks.]

I know we're currently practicing my mental magic for protecting against suggestions, but I should also tell you that my ability to speak without moving my mouth has returned-- at least some type of it.

[She shakes her head and winces a bit] It's different in that Bauble, what I usually talk to, isn't with me. I don't sense it, so I shouldn't be able to feel that ability; but.. [Eilonwy trails off and lifts her shoulders in a quick little shrug, at a loss for how to explain all of this.] But you should know, as my teacher and friend. I may ask others for advice, but I haven't decided yet. Most of today has been spent just readjusting and fighting off a headache.

It was a while before there was a knock on Eilonwy's cottage door. A quiet one, more of a tap. An accompanying text was sent via the oracle as well. This was an interesting development though, but first he wanted to make sure that Eilonwy was safe, and not hurting further. Possibly also, depending on this new talent, to keep others safe from her as well.

Loki waited patiently though, bearing a basket with him.

[ It's training day again. Seto's still working hard, as he always does, but his mood is...different. Instead of buckling down and grumbling when he makes mistakes as usual, he's taking things in stride more. There's a little smile to his eyes. There's something else on his mind, but he's doing his best to focus anyway. ]

[They were doing basic drills today, as they'd done before. These should be almost second nature even if Kaiba was still learning. But Loki had noticed the distracted state, and had some suspicions. Studying the other for a moment, before he vanished his dagger.]

I'm sure you could, but I think today we'll be doing something different. Endurance. Put your dagger away, and we're going to go get lost in the woods for a bit.
