Moving his hand, he cupped her chin and made her look up at him. "Christine," Certain he had her attention. "You were special before those powers manifested. They're not why your soul shines. You helped a stranger whom you thought would die, for no reason other than because you are kind. You were still kind, even when finding out who he was. That is what makes you special."

He catches her by surprise and it shows on her face.

The link between them is flooded with her love, there's no escaping it washing over them both.

It still baffles him, but does not spark the emotional storm of the night before. Instead it's cradled like the precious gift it is; sending back that fierce desire to protect and keep her safe mixed with a jealous possessive pride that he found her--that she's the one he directs this to--and a raw joy and contentment at her company.

He'd made his views on love clear before. Loki wasn't entirely sure he was capable of love, either. But he could recognize the precious gift it was, and had promised himself he'd become worthy of hers.

As much as she would want him to love her back, she's in no rush for it. Especially with all the suffering he's gone through, it's natural that he is very protective of his heart.

The emotions he has for her are enough, she knows she is critically important to him and it feels really nice.

"I'm not very good at shielding emotions from you."

"I've noticed." Said softly, with only a hint of teasing. "We will have to find a way for you to keep even me out. For your own protection."

She nods. "I know. I've been strengthening my shields quite a lot."

But he is just welcomed right past them.

"I'll have to craft new ones to give you, too." Shifting his hand to be able to stroke her cheek, hold her jaw and throat slightly. Leaning in to kiss her sweetly. Thanking her without words.

The bleeding from his arm has mostly stopped so she is able to be distracted by a kiss for a moment before her focus is back on the cut. Checking to see if it needs glue or not.

"Could probably just be bandaged."

"I place myself in your capable hands, Dr. Palmer." Letting her go, and moving to hold his arm out for her to continue examining the cut.

She nods and gets to work carefully cleaning the cut and putting little butterfly sutures on it just to make sure it stays neat before she bandages it. She kisses the skin above the bandage as a little apology.

It's probably good she's focused on work, because Loki isn't aware that his smile is actually very telling right then. Admiration...and love. Even if he wouldn't recognize it. But they need to get back to work...

"Haven't scared you off of playing with knives, have I?" He teased, as a way to segue back into the lessons.

"I warn you now my spacing will be off." She will be keeping more of a gap between them for a little while at least.

She packs her bag back up and tucks it away.

"Ok. I'm ready."

"Then you'll just have to fix it." Determined, as he would not let her fail at this. Back to counter drills and manifesting her dagger unexpectedly. Occasionally demonstrating a new one with his own dagger. It would be dinner time before they took more than water and breathing-breaks.

"You'll still need to practice, but you're just about ready to start learning with your other hand too. If you want."

It's hard work, and she is rather tired by the time they finish.

"I'm not sure. Would it be better to manifest a shield in one hand and a dagger in the other? Would offer better defense."

"That you'll have to ask Lady Sif about. I'm sure she'd be delighted to teach you. But I want you able to wield your dagger with either hand, regardless." Blue-green eyes were looking at her seriously. "Better you have the skill and not need it, than find yourself in need of it and not know how to. It also offers more versatile options for you, and adds to your ability to surprise another."

She nods. "That makes perfect sense. I like having the option for both."

She's pulling him close again to wrap her arms around him.

Loki wrapped his arms around her, and shifted to stretch out more on her couch, with her. Perfectly content for the moment to just be with her. Eventually he breaks the companionable silence. "How is your regular job going? Magic can be a harsh and demanding teacher, and you've clearly been busy. But you don't seem the type to let your job suffer even if you're worn out."

"It's ok." She cuddles up against him. "I've been using my seniority to take slightly fewer shifts. I used to take extras, but I use that time to study."

Is she generally a bit exhausted, yes. But she does think it's worth it.

Loki is shifting her, to look at her at arm's length and study her more closely. Searching and trying to gauge just how worn out she might be. Before pulling her closer again and perhaps just a bit tighter. "You've been cautioned against practicing when exhausted, yes?" Depending on the spell and magic, even a slight distraction could mean disaster.

"Yes. I always rest first." She's been warned that she could hurt herself or others if she does something wrong while practicing.

Pressing a kiss to her hair, he relaxed. "Generally you don't strike me as reckless, except where I'm concerned."

"I'm very sensible until someone I care about needs me." She would be just as reckless for her mom if she needed to.

"That may be why your Empathy is strongest." He mused, one hand coming up and stroking through her hair. "Remember what I said about emotions not following logic?"

I'm not judging you in this, Sweetling.

"Yes." She slips a hand under the hem of his shirt to rest on skin.

You traveled halfway across the globe because I was in danger. I know you aren't judging.

Indeed. Another kiss was pressed to her hair. Amusement radiated along their link about the need to touch and be touched.

"We should consider dinner. Are we staying in?"
