"Y'know, I think I won't tell you. More fun that way." Loki smirked, before bringing her hand up to kiss.

"I'll be disappointed if you didn't. I have written some lovely papers."

She smiles at that little kiss, the fondness flowing that always seems to accompany being with him.

"So telepathic communicate isn't common, apparently."

"I would've been surprised if it was, on Midgard. There are races and beings in the wider universe that use it regularly though. I would definitely make sure you have strong shields before we go to space."

[drpalmer]

"And yet you never used it?" She knows her shields will need to be very strong overall.

I think I'm going to get a talk about strengthening my shields from Stephen as well.

"I've had it used on me. It was...unpleasant." Loki's eyes narrowed, but not in annoyance at her. "I've categorized what I do with you to be different."

"What would you say it is then? I know it seems to feel stronger the more time we're together."

[whose_son_am_i]

"I honestly am not sure." Loki was telling the truth as well on that. It was on his list to research.

[drpalmer]

"Aw, are we special?" She teases, taking a sip of her wine.

We are. YOU are. With a mental caress as well as another kiss to her hand.

[drpalmer]

That caress feels wonderful and she returns it in kind.

"I might never let you leave."

If she can finally master portals, she wouldn't have to.

"I admit, I haven't been as fond of anyone's company as I am of yours before." A wry smile, still with his lips against her knuckles. "Perhaps I should worry about being charmed, not you."

"If I've managed to charm you, everyone should be very worried about my power."

Given how strong his mental shields are, it really would be an impressive accomplishment.

"Don't think the possibility hasn't occurred to me." Loki squeezed her hand. "It has, as has the fact that I am apparently okay with it. While it may be possible, it does not seem likely however." Because he could be paranoid at times. "No, there may be something else going on, I just haven't figured out what."

"Maybe you actually just really like me?"

In case that possibility hasn't occured to him.

"I thought I'd made it clear that yes, I do." Loki raised an eyebrow. "I have been with people whose company I enjoy before." But he hadn't ever felt close, the way he did with her.

[drpalmer]

"Please don't take this question the wrong way." There's a little pause.

"Loki, have you ever been in love?"

That made him blink in surprise, and his expression went neutral. ...Love? Sometimes Loki wasn't sure he even knew what the emotion was--although he had loved his mother. And while it was twisted with many other emotions, he loved his father. It was...still very complicated, but he supposed that he did love Thor, his brother.

And familiar love could feel quite different from romantic love.

Christine lets him have a few moments, she's not looking for a dramatic romantic confession, she had honestly wondered if he had known the feeling before.

Eventually, he snorts softly and laughs. "I don't think I ever have been. Not in the way I suspect you mean. I'm not actually sure if I'm capable of it, honestly."

[drpalmer]

She gives a little shrug.

"Just thought it was worth asking. Trust me, it can come as a surprise sometimes."

Internally, his thoughts had latched onto this idea with a vengeance. It couldn't be. He wasn't that soft, was he? And it would be a problem if he were in love. Much less in love with a human. But what if...?

The idea was shoved to the side for now. "I can't guarantee that your love will be returned. I recognize it is a gift, and I shall treat yours as precious." A pause, and a kiss of her hand still. "I'd rather you know that for truth, than tell you comforting lies." He meant his statement about how he wasn't sure her love was returned. But it could apply to other things as well, that he had no idea about.

"I know" she brushes her fingers against his cheek. "I can feel the emotions you do have for me and they are intense and wonderful."

She has no doubt about the strength of his affections and that's why she doesn't need love as it were. In his long life, she's managed to captivate him enough to be under his protection.

That she was under his protection and care was a form of love already, really. Even if Loki didn't see that. Then again, Frigga had pointed out that he was always perceptive except with himself.

Idly, he wished he could talk to her. Not about any of the things he should say, but about this... It was a stupid thought, but one that crossed his mind anyway.

"...I respect you. Which is why I share them with you." He'd respected her enough to agree to not manipulate her. He couldn't always promise or give her honesty, but he was trying.

She would have loved to have gotten to meet his mother, she wonders if Frigga would have seen right away how taken Loki is.

"I appreciate them, and this link we have. I get to see a side of you I don't think anyone else can."

"I can confirm that you see sides to me I do not let others see." Brushing his thumb against her skin. "I can gift you the words and sentiment 'You're special'."
