He'd been trying to, yes. Glad that it had succeeded. "I am coming to appreciate the sheer variety of food when I do travel though. It's....still not home, but it's close though--this meal. We did have many of the same flora and fauna as Midgard on Asgard."

"We do have a very diverse food culture." As a species humans have done great things with food.

"How though? Did you introduce plants to Earth ages ago or did evolution just converge a lot?"

"Sadly, that is not covered in the book you got me. Nor was it in any of the history I learned growing up. We definitely had some creatures and organisms you did not though so..." A shrug. "It will probably not surprise you to find out I know how to ride a horse."

[drpalmer]

Ignore the snort.

"The myths say that much." Yeah, she just made a dirty horse joke, sorry.

Okay, that was fair. He lifts his glass to her in salute. "Fair enough." Then he's chuckling. "I may be a bad influence on you. Or perhaps I just bring it out more."

"Oh, I've always taken the dirty joke when I have the chance."

She raises her own glass in reply.

"You do bring out my mischievous side."

"It is a lovely side that I'm very fond of." He replied with a wink. "Joke aside, horses were not uncommon."

[drpalmer]

"If anyone would encourage my mischief it's you." It's what he's known for anyway.

"I've only ridden a horse a few times as a child. It was never anything that interested me."

[whose_son_am_i]

"That and walking were the most practical means of getting around. It's...strange." Loki was trying to think of how to explain. "In many ways, we were far more advanced than here. But we still clung to some old ways that were favored among us, and became adopted by the humans."

[drpalmer]

"You had all these powers I can hardly imagine but you rode horses."

They could have had fancy magic car things.

"And your clothing style feels classical almost."

"I can't say I'm displeased by it, really. Some of the stuff I see people wear here makes me...wonder. So does some of the stuff I've seen elsewhere." With a small smile. "And we didn't always ride horses. We had skifs and skimmers that hovered over the water and could fly through the sky as well."

"Human fashion can get... weird." She can admit that for sure.

"You had hovercrafts? Were they fun? They sound fun."

"They were fun, yes. Would you like to see?" He suspected the answer was yes.

[drpalmer]

"Of course I do." He knows her pretty well by now.

Holding up a hand, Loki let a picture form in the air between them. "They were armed, as well. One of the rotary plasma cannons is equipped on the Commodore that originally came from a skiff."

"That looks different than I expected, it's pretty. I think I anticipated more utilitarian?"

That made him chuckle. "From everything I've shown you of what Asgard was like, why would you expect us not to be functional and aesthetically pleasing?"

[drpalmer]

She chuckles.

"That's very true, everything was beautiful there."

[whose_son_am_i]

"There were...ugly things, but it was more subtle." Reaching out for her hand, brushing his thumb over hers.

[drpalmer]

"Show me something ugly." She brings his hand to her lips to kiss the skin. She finds she's always kissing or touching him when they're alone.

If she wasn't reaching for him, he was often reaching for her, when they were private. Using his other hand, Loki brought another illusion up. Showing her a view of the dungeons, and shifting the viewpoint so she could see from inside a cell. It was all dark stone or sterile white and gold. Loki's cell had only been 'comfortable' because of Frigga's intervention.

She recognizes that they are cells, some sort of prison.

"Did they put you in one of those?" After the invasion he had been taken back to Asgard, she can't imagine his father was pleased with him.

"They did. Though mine was made more comfortable, thanks to Mother's intervention." His next statement had a dry quality to it. "Apparently, she was the only reason I lived."

Christine is moving out of her chair to sit in his lap, part of her Empathy is being empathetic and so she aches for him.

"I would thank her if I could."

He adjusts automatically as she moves, before sliding his arms around her as she settles. "...I would too." Sadly, he wouldn't have that chance. "I found out she perished, while I was in the dungeons. I'm free, because Thor sought my aid in having our revenge, and in his saving Dr. Foster."
