"Usually in the heat of the moment, by those wishing to manipulate me for some purpose. They think themselves sly." It had hurt the first few times, before he'd simply stopped caring and investing himself so much. Trust was....a very rare and precious thing for him. Christine seemed to understand that.

"Neither Thor nor myself had known of her."

"I didn't start calling you love until I realized I loved you." She was a very genuine and authentic person.

"And she was obviously not good."

"You also project emotions, and had no shielding or idea that was what you were doing. I doubt very much you're attempting to manipulate me, Sweetling." Reaching up to tap her mouth with a finger playfully. "Don't think the possibility hasn't occurred to me a few times over."

As for the other subject...

"Had Hela succeeded in conquering the nine realms, she would've made my invasion look like a child with toy soldiers. She reveled in the bloodshed."

"You probably would have caught on by now. And I'm a terrible liar."

Christine is too genuine to have even considered using him.

"So you saved more than just your people? That's a very noble sacrifice."

An eyebrow raised. "It was that or die, as neither Thor or myself are the type to kneel. Do not think I am some heroic type, Christine." He wasn't. Generally.

"In any case, that is why we are here now. As refugees, although Thor and many of our people still view us as protectors of the nine realms." Their king had stated as such, in his various dealings with the world so far. Nevermind that there were no real soldiers among the refugees...

"You have your moments of heroism. Usually to achieve something you want, but I think that still counts."

He's no true hero type, but he has done some very good things.

"I'm glad you're on Earth or our lives would have never crossed at all."

"Agreed, Sweeting." Leaning down to kiss her softly, affectionately. Just for a long moment.

"Now, we should eat. And possibly do something besides lounge in bed together." With a playful wink, and teasing smile.

"I am hungry." She chuckles, "after that exercise."

She moves out of his embrace and goes to his closet to pull out a tee-shirt that she puts on. He did seem to like her in his clothes.

He did, and chuckled softly. A stretch, and then he's joining her at the closet. Casual slacks of his own, and a similar tee shirt. "Are you planning on borrowing more?" Said with amusement and curiosity.

She gives a little twirl, the hemline just barely covers what it needs to.

"No, I think this is enough."

It does make for a lovely look, all legs below the hemline.

"For now, I think you're right." Sliding his as around her in a hug, and leaning down to kiss her sweetly.

She kisses back for a moment before pulling away.

"Come on, before we end up back in bed."

More laughter while walking with her, arm around her waist, back to the sitting room and the table there. Her spell had worked, as the food was still warm and fresh. Once they were seated and had eaten a bit, Loki had a thought occur to him. "Actually, I do have an idea that is probably best done here. I can start teaching you to throw daggers."

"Anywhere besides my apartment is preferable, honestly."

She does want to throw her daggers.

"Can I enchant them to help the distance?"

"One step at a time, but most likely yes. I'd rather you know how to do so without using your magic, then you can work on modifying it." It was a practical concern to his way of thinking.

"Throw first." She nods. "You're a rather good teacher, you know?"

"I haven't actually taught many people before, so that is a bit surprising to me." Then he thought about it for a moment. "Or maybe not so surprising." A shrug. "Regardless, I am motivated to help you learn, and learn correctly."

[drpalmer]

"So I don't get stabbed." She nods, a little teasing to her voice.

Stephen is also doing his best to equip her to not die.

"Among other reasons, yes." At least he was smiling, while giving her a look.

"The food is really good. Comforting."

Like the stew he had chosen when she was sad. She understands that better now, he was offering her comfort food.

He'd been trying to, yes. Glad that it had succeeded. "I am coming to appreciate the sheer variety of food when I do travel though. It's....still not home, but it's close though--this meal. We did have many of the same flora and fauna as Midgard on Asgard."

"We do have a very diverse food culture." As a species humans have done great things with food.

"How though? Did you introduce plants to Earth ages ago or did evolution just converge a lot?"

"Sadly, that is not covered in the book you got me. Nor was it in any of the history I learned growing up. We definitely had some creatures and organisms you did not though so..." A shrug. "It will probably not surprise you to find out I know how to ride a horse."

[drpalmer]

Ignore the snort.

"The myths say that much." Yeah, she just made a dirty horse joke, sorry.

Okay, that was fair. He lifts his glass to her in salute. "Fair enough." Then he's chuckling. "I may be a bad influence on you. Or perhaps I just bring it out more."
