I've missed you, my Sweetling. Sending that emotion back, and twining with her own. "I am sorry to be springing this on you, Christine. But you will help. Part of what is fueling this is fatigue, in many ways."

"I'm glad I came when I did."

She brings his hand up to her lips and kisses it.

"We should probably be less obvious."

"Probably. So business now, and then when private, we can talk more." Loki leaned in to kiss her forehead. Squeezing their joined hands, holding the moment. Then taking a breath, and his expression is all business again.

"This will be much like when I escorted you at the dinner before. I believe in you, Christine."

And so it was, as she was brought into the negotiations. Her name was recognized by the Norwegian diplomats, as they'd been briefed properly. With a combination of more talking and her projective Empathy (of which only Loki was aware), an official decree and proclamation was made. It was an exhausting process, in some ways. For now, the violence was held off. In the coming days, it would need to be dealt with--but they had a plan.


Loki arranged for dinner to be sent to his rooms, before he told Christine to go on a head. "I'll be there shortly, I just have something to set up."

It's incredibly satisfying to get to try her projection in a real world setting and not just at Wong. She didn't do much in the way of talking, but being able to keep everyone calm meant the talks were more rational.

"Okay, see you shortly." She remembers well enough the hallways to make it back to his rooms.

Ylfa had clearly done her job, as the clothing was all packed away neatly now. His rooms were otherwise in order, if clearly he was working. But as before, she was welcome to make herself at home. It wasn't long before a servant brought dinner--something roasted with vegetables, hearty rolls, and mead and water.

It's not long after the servant brings food, that Loki finally came back to his rooms. Closing the door, and locking it. "How long are you planning to stay this time, Sweetling?"

Christine is comfortable in his rooms. But she is excited when he arrives.

"A day or two. But now that I can portal I can make one for you anytime."

"I'm impressed and proud of you Sweetling." Loki murmured, moving over to her and simply wrapping her up in a hug. "And while I hate to have to depend on you for travel, I look forward to it."

[drpalmer]

She sinks happily into that embrace.

"It draws far less attention then you bringing the Commodore to the city." She nuzzles against him, taking in his familar scent.

"Check my shields."

Holding her tighter for a moment more, before pulling back to arm's length to properly study her. She can probably tell that he's sending a testing probe or two against her mind. Loki slowly smiles, then reaches up to brush her cheek. "Much better, my Sweetling. You have been busy."

"It's been tiring, but I think I'm making good progress."

She's been throwing herself into magic with vigor.

"How have you been?"

"Busy, in case you couldn't tell." Reaching up to brush his hand against her face, and dismissing the illusion over her clothing. "I'll be busy tomorrow and the next day, but you said you might want to help?"

"Just a few things going on here." She leans in to kiss him quickly.

"I want to help." She nods. "My projection is much better I might be useful."

"Useful or not, I'm glad to see you." Returning that quick kiss with one of his own. "But I won't need 'calm' for what I'm planning. I plan to turn them against each other so that the infighting causes the group to lose most of its momentum towards violence."

[drpalmer]

If he likes that mischievous look she gets, he will get it right now.

"I'm sure I can project more than calm, my love."

"I'll be hurting people, Christine. Mostly by inciting them to hurt each other." Just to warn her, even though he's smiling. He does love it when she gets mischievous, and being called 'my love' just sweetens the deal. "I may also kill someone, to frame another. I haven't decided yet."

[drpalmer]

"Maybe don't kill people?" that's her only objection.

She's trying to nudge him to being a little more light gray. She understands what he's doing, and if murder was absolutely needed she may be okay with it, but this doesn't seem like he needs to get his hands dirty in this.

Quiet for several heartbeats, before he speaks again. "I'll try to make it necessary, not expedient. For you." Which wasn't a promise that he wouldn't kill, but that he'd try and only do it if it became necessary.

"I've been tracking some of these individuals for a few months now, as well as the rise of these groups." Moving to lead her over to his work area. She can see now various pins and strings on the bulletin board, with notes and photos. "I suspected something like this was building, and so while we're not happy at being under a lockdown, we're prepared. Provided no one from our side starts the violence, we'll come out of this in a good position in the eyes of the world."

"If you pick someone that kills puppies or kicks children I'll turn a blind eye."

She wants to know his violence, she feels like she needs to in order to really understand him.

"Ah, that's why I haven't seen you." She moves to look at the board, following his information.

It wasn't even that he enjoyed hurting people, so much as that they were in the way of his goals.

"It is. Remember what I said about potentially needing some applied chaos? I've been watching this unfold." Arm moving around her waist, and hugging her softly. "But we can discuss it in the morning. I have the pleasure of your unexpected company, and we have dinner to eat."

At least his goals seemed to be more for the good of his people and not just him alone.

She leans into him.

"I'm not letting you stay away this long again. Not when I can get here in an instant."

He held her tighter, turning his head to kiss her hair. "I am very impressed. And won't mind if you startle the maids regularly." Heading back towards the table, where he held out her chair. "Go ahead and start, I'll get out of my armor." Unless she wanted to help?

It's her turn to cast a warming spell over the food. A wave of glittering magic coming over the table.

"I'm not missing a chance to undress you."

That brought an amused and affectionate smile and he hugged her against his side. So to the bedroom it was. Really the light armor looked more complicated and complex than it was. Padded over-jacket/vest--since it wasn't meant to be actual combat he'd forgone the gloves and only wore plain leather boots. Then an inner coat of leather-and-mail, along with bracers at his fore-arms and biceps. It looked far more complex than it was.

She helps him out of the jacket before putting it on herself and going to look in the mirror.

"Do I make a good warrior?" It's far too long and broad for her, but it doesn't look bad.

Loki grinned while chuckling. "Not in my gear you don't..." Moving to take her hand, and lead her to where they could see each other in the bathroom mirror, he stood behind her once more. "Not to mention Sif or Brunhilde will be the first to tell you about the perils of poor fitting armor." Arms moving around her waist to hold her from behind, Loki let his head rest on her shoulder. "Something more like this would suit you." There's a shimmer of greenish-gold, and her outfit seemed to change.

"Actually, I wouldn't be surprised to find the former two have thought about what might work for you. I imagine the argument is do you want something more classical, or more modern."
